FIVE; THE GOOD AND THE BAD

"Jasper, this is the last time I'm going to tell you to move."

"I don't think you're in the position to be threatening me, darling."

"If anything this bump is going to give me an advantage."

Paul rolled his eyes at the couples bickering. "You can calm down, bloodsucker. I'm not here to hurt anyone."

Jasper glared at the werewolf. "Why should I believe you, mutt?"

"Because if princess dies we all do." Paul reminded the vampire, crossing his arms over his chest. "And even if she wasn't an Equalizer I'm pretty sure she could still take me down."

"Damn straight." Cassadee grumbled before shoving her husband to the side so she could finally see her best friend. "But seriously, Paul, what are you doing here? Didn't Sam just declare war?"

Paul was confused as to how the pregnant woman knew but chose to ignore it. "He's not after you for obvious reasons but it won't stop him from trying to get the baby." He said, glancing down at Cassadee's stomach before glaring at Jasper. "He's definitely going to kill you."

"Thanks for telling us information we already gathered." Jasper retorted, returning the werewolf's glare.

"You two are so infuriating." Cassadee grumbled in annoyance, rubbing her stomach to calm down. "What about Bella?"

Paul shrugged. "He doesn't care as long as the baby dies, she'll just be a casualty."

"What do you think?" Cassadee questioned.

"I have to follow Sam's orders, if that means killing Bella then that's what I have to do."

Cassadee wasn't all that surprised by the answer, but it didn't stop her from hoping he would be on her side. "If things were different and he told you to kill me, would you?"

"I honestly don't know." Paul answered after a moment of thought. "I just wanted to come and warn you before Sam noticed I'm gone."

Cassadee left her husband's side, much to his dismay, and walked down the steps of the porch to stand in front of Paul. She didn't say anything before wrapping her arms around his waist, surprising him but he wrapped his arms around shoulders within a few seconds. "Just in case this is goodbye, I love you."

"I really doubt this is goodbye." Paul almost laughed, squeezing the Equalizer. "But I love you, too, princess." He said before kissing her head and pulling away. "I have to go now. Take care of yourself, Cass."

"You, too, Paul." Cassadee smiled at him before he turned and ran into the forest. She didn't acknowledge Jasper when she felt him appear at her side, she continued to look where the werewolf disappeared. "I have a feeling that something much bigger than this is coming."

"People trying to kill us?" Jasper questioned as he put his arm around his wife's waist. "It's nothing we haven't dealt with before. We'll get through it." He picked her up bridal style and sped toward the house, earning a smack in the back of the head, which resulted in a laugh from him.

"Warn a girl next time!" Cassadee huffed once they reached the house. "One of these days I'm gonna end up puking on you." She said before walking inside.

"Sam's lost the element of surprise, and he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered, so he's not gonna come at you head on. He's got the place surrounded and he'll wait for his opportunity." Jacob informed the family as Cassadee walked in, Jasper right behind her.

"We won't get through without a fight." Emmett said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"No fights." Carlisle said. "We won't be the ones to break the treaty."
