Matthew's pov
~
"I-I need t-to use the r-restroom," Summer stood up out of her seat and looked down at the floor."It's down the hall to the right," Mom said. "Summer?"
"Hey! Are you listening?" I said. Dumb girl; must be too scared to even walk to the restroom. How pathetic.
Summer's mom leaned over to her. "Sweetie, are you okay?" She said.
Summer had her back towards her mom and her body towards me. She began to mumble broken words that were hard to understand. Jesus, is this girl stupid? I leaned forward a little to get a good look at her face; she looked as if the life had been sucked out of her. Her face was pale and her eyes were closed, but she had dark circles around them that weren't there before.
"Hey," I said as I snapped my fingers in front of her face. "Wake the hell up!"
She slowly opened her eyes, then looked up at me. "M-my h-head," She whispered. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fell to the ground, shaking. What the fuck is wrong with this girl?! Is she fucking possessed?!
"Summer!" Her mother cried. "Someone call 9-1-1! She has epilepsy!"
Mom crouched down to the floor. "Matthew! Go get the phone; hurry!" I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the phone laying on the counter. I quickly ran back into the dining room and tossed the phone to my dad. He then began to dial 9-1-1.
I was so lost. I had no idea that this girl had epilepsy. I thought she was just in EPHS because of the emotional stress caused by her parent's s divorce. It was so frightening to stare at her body, violently shaking on the floor. I felt like I needed to help, but I didn't know how to.
Summer slowly started to calm down. Her body laying lifelessly on the floor-- she looked like a corpse. "Is she--" I began.
"Oh thank god, she's breathing!" Summer's mother cried.
My dad stepped in from outside and said, "The ambulance is here, Moni." (a/n moni is summer's mom. pronounced mow- knee)
Summer's mom looked up at my dad. Paramedics walked in my home along with a stretcher. The two bulky men picked Summer up and placed her on the stretcher. They made sure she was breathing properly and if she had any damages caused by the fall. Why do I feel so concerned about her? She just had a seizure but this is Stutters we're talking about!
The paramedics took aside Summer's mom and asked her questions. "Matthew," Mother said. "Did you know she had epilepsy?"
"No-- I had no idea."
"I was so scared! I never seen
anyone have a seizure before." My dad said."Matthew, I'd like it if you would look over her at school," Mom whispered.
"What?! Why should I have to watch her? I'm not her dad!"
"Please Matthew, I think Summer and Moni would greatly appreciate it."
"I don't care what Stutters would greatly appreciate, It's not my job." I scoffed and headed to my room.
I should be feeling sorry for her, but I don't. I'll admit, I was shaken up by the fact that she just collapsed so suddenly, but I can't help but feel a grudge against her. I know that what happened to me wasn't her fault, but I feel so much anger towards her. I feel-- jealousy?
