Whoo! Friday! :D

______________________

I wake up and see nothing. My eyes adjust to the darkness, and I can see the faintest of outlines of multiple objects. I see a door, walls, a bedside table, bookshelves and cabinets, some plants, a desk, and the end of the bed. I lurch forward, and try to find a source of light. I end up not finding a light switch, or even a string to turn on the light on a fan I may not be able to see at the moment. I do, however, find a candle, but no matches.

Then suddenly I remember that I have my phone! I take it out of my pocket and press the power button, only to learn that it is on the brink of death.

'Great. What am I supposed to do now?! I want to go home!' I go back to the bed, grab a blanket, and wrap myself up in it. I end up laying back down.

]~[

I hear the door open, and I open my eyes. I hear the figure work its way around the room, and then I see it get in my field of vision. It takes a step back.

"Oh, you're awake." It, no, he says, and his voice is surprisingly light.

'An accent? Which one?'

"Get up." He says.

Not wanting to irritate him, possibly any further, I sit up, letting my feet dangle off the side of the bed. He comes towards me, and then starts checking my head. I let him move it around, let him test areas around the skull, and then he lets it resume to normal position.

"No injuries. Good." He heads back to the door.

"Uh, mister?" his foot stomps to signify he has stopped.

"What, girl?"

"Where am I? What time is it? Also, why are there no matches to light the only candle in the room?"

He doesn't reply for several minutes before he asks, "Are you hurting anywhere else?"

"You didn't-"

"Answer me." His voice holds authority in it.

"No. I am feeling a bit famished though."

"I will get you something. In the meantime, stay here."

"Please, tell me something!"

He shuts the door instead, leaving me in the dark room again.

"I just want to go home." I start, quietly. "I don't even know where I am. Or when. Why is it that the room has to be shrouded in the dark?"

I flop back down, close my eyes, and wait for time to tell the fate.

]~[

I wake with a start, like someone was standing over me. I slowly open my eyes to see that the figure has returned, and is watching me. I jolt back, feeling the end of the bed by the middle of my back.

"My apologies. I did not mean to startle you."

"Well, too late."

He tosses an item at me, and immediately, I know that it's my bag, by the way it feels. It is also then I realize I can actually see, but just barely. I look over at the desk and see that the candle is lit, and beside it is a box of matches.

"That was with you."

"Thanks." I open it up and see that all my items are still inside. I grab my charger and then ask, "Hey man, do you have a plug around here?"

"What is this, 'plug' you speak of?"

I stop to actually think for once. "Please help me here. Where am I? Like, what state or country, or even town, if you are feeling daring. What time is it? What year, a better question. You don't have to tell me the exact date..."

"Mademoiselle, why do you not know where you are, or what the year is?"

Mademoiselle. "So...this is France?" 'He's French?'

"Paris, to be exact."

'Wait. Things shrouded in the dark...a mysterious figure, and we're in Paris, France? It can only mean one thing!' I cover my mouth.

"Great. What is it now?" he growls.

I cover it up as a yawn. "Still rather tired, but I think that's because-"

I get cut off by an object thrown at my face. It lands in my lap. I pick it up, and see it's an apple.

"Thank you." I rub it off and take a bite out of it.

He doesn't reply.

'That only confirms my suspicion even more! I think I'm face to face with the Phantom!'

"You shall rest here until you are well." He says quietly.

"Dude, all I need is some food, water, some light, and a place to charge my phone."

He pulls off a confused look. "'Charge'? Why your 'phone'? Mademoiselle, you speak French well, but you are confusing me."

'Oh no. Crap! Does the manipulator run out of batteries? My phone can give out at any minute! It's the thing that's doing all the translating! I've got to tell him that I don't speak French, and that I need several minutes outside.'

"Nevermind all of that. Er, I have one more question."

"I do not like all of these questions." He pauses. "I don't like curious women."

"Oh..."

"Ask, foolish girl."

"May I see daylight for about five minutes?"

"No. You are to stay here."

With that, he leaves the room, slamming the door.

'Will I ever return home?'
