Chapter 6
Cameron’s POV
As we sat at the table, I chuckled in victory. I had managed to do the impossible. I had managed to hit Elena exactly where it hurt.
“Are you proud Cameron?” Brice asked, scratching the back of his head as we waited on our food. He lowered his voice to a whisper, “You know how bad I look because of this?” I shrugged.
“Not my image,” I replied, taking a sip of my soda. Brice shook his head and crossed his arms.
“You’re sick man,” Brice commented, twisting his face into disgust. I just laughed.
“What’s next then Cameron?” Elan asked from my left. Elan was my inside man, ever since he had gotten Elena’s number at that gas station, by pure coincidence, I had been extremely happy. If Elan played it correctly, he could most definitely wedge in between Raleigh and Elena.
“I’ve heard she’s unhappy in her relationship,” I smiled. My plans were actually working out; Elena was going to crumble right into my hands. After Elena, then Raleigh would follow suit. They would both be my personal bitches. “Make her like you Elan, but never reveal your name and if she asks, use a fake one or something.” Elan nodded. His mind was young and shapeable, which was why he was perfect for this.
“What about the sister?” Abey asked as the waitress placed a plate of fries in front of him.
“Burgers coming up soon boys,” she explained, and then darted from the table to another one.
“She’s in the hospital, unconscious with a broken arm,” Brice answered, a look of pain in his face. Brice’s remorse was actually comical and I was starting to question if he was actually loyal. If Brice chickened out, that meant he could turn me in. “Anything on that Doug case?” I shook my head.
“They all think it’s a suicide. Besides, I feel like that put fear into them both,” I commented. Never once had it crossed my mind that the plan was going too well, I was too bubbly from how well it was going.
“Elan is finally gonna get himself some tail huh?” Abey joked. I shook my head, Elan was the youngest, and so we always picked on him. He swore that he wasn’t a virgin, but the way he acted around girls led us to think otherwise.
“I could get her if I really wanted her,” Elan bragged, smiling.
“Not even if you tried, you’re not a lap dog remember,” I joked, causing the guys to laugh. I had actually missed being around these guys. They had tried to tell me that jail had me more sinister, but I didn’t think so. Jail had made me wiser, exposed me to things that boys the age I was shouldn’t be exposed to, but what was there to be done about it now.
“Here you go boys,” the waitress said, placing the plate of burgers on the table. “Anything else, call me.” She quickly sauntered away again. The waitress seemed to be uninterested in our conversation, but either way she didn’t need to know what we were discussing. I glanced at her; she was too wrapped up in another customer, which was perfect.
“What’s the news now?” I asked.
“The family is at the hospital,” Brice answered, taking a burger off the plate and taking a bite into it.
“Waitress is kind of cute,” Abey commented, looking past me.
“Bet you won’t get the digits,” Elan said, causing me to laugh.
