Chapter 14
Seeing Cameron sitting on the counter was heartbreaking. My throat was dryer than someone stranded in the desert and my legs were buckling. I immediately wanted to break down and cry. Cameron shook his head and started to fold the newspaper. I was fighting against myself, trying to keep my composure. My knees felt like collapsing me into the floor while my arms wanted to start punching.
“Well, I didn’t know I had such a profound effect on you. I thought Raleigh was the only one you would drop to your knees for,” Cameron commented. I scoffed as I realized what he said.
“As if,” I mumbled. Cameron shook his head and dropped down from the counter.
“Don’t get so offensive, I already know the things you would do to him. I’ve seen your little private show,” he continued, walking towards me slowly.
“What do you want?” I questioned through gritted teeth. He stopped and clasped his hands together.
“You see,” he paused, pointing a finger at me, “What I really want is for you to burn in hell.” His advanced stopped, not too far from me. “But, that’s for God to decide. You know, premarital sex might just be enough to send you there.” I crossed my arms and eyed him, my fear slowly being replaced with anger.
“Get to the point!” I nearly yelled. Cameron looked at me in surprise.
“Don’t rush me little lady.” I shook my head, growing weary of Cameron’s childish games. “I’m here to make a proposition, a truce.” My eyes grew wide as I looked at Cameron in shock.
“Are you fucking serious?” My eyes went from Cameron to my grandfather. I wanted to know if he was breathing which caused me to study his chest. After a few seconds, I determined he was well.
“All your little lover boy has to do is hand over his title and we can be okay.” Cameron shrugged like he was asking for cheese.
“I see we’ve graduated from lap dogs.” Cameron chuckled.
“No, not yet.” I shook my head.
“Did it ever cross your mind that this was stupid on your part?” Cameron made a quick dash towards me, pinning me against the wall. We were nose to nose, close enough to smell each other’s breaths.
“See, I don’t think you understand. Its either Raleigh hands over the title or I get you all to myself.” Cameron looked me up and down, making me roll my eyes in disgust.
“You will never have me,” I replied, my words laced with venom. I made sure to show my teeth as I uttered the words, trying to be intimidating. Cameron smirked.
“Elena, you’re making this a lot harder than it needs to be. Drop the zero, get with the hero. At least with me you won’t burn in hell for eternity.”
“You’re different. You’re a fucking killer and I can prove it.” I looked Cameron right in the eyes, daring him to call my bluff. “With you, I would be condemned to hell. If I’m not already in it.” I made sure to give him a look of disgust, trying to add more intimidation to my demeanor.
“And how exactly can you prove this. This would be the demonstration of the year. Send me to jail, go right ahead.” Cameron raised an eyebrow at me.
