Alex's P.O.V.

After soccer practice today, I grab my bags and wait for Servando to come out of his practice.

He's taking me out to a date tonight to see a movie. I guess I'm excited to go, but lately I've been out of it.

I guess I'm just stressed out. Half the time, I don't even know what goes through my own head.

I let out a sigh as I look down at my watch only to see that Servando was ten minutes late. Like always.

As I'm pulling out my phone I hear shouting and I turn my head towards the noise.

I start walking towards the direction of the shouting and I soon find myself sprinting when I realized exactly what was happening.

"Servando, get off of her!" I shout as I push him away from Tobin, who's lying on the ground with a bloody nose.

"It was her fault!" Servando says as he begins to dust himself off.

"Bullshit! I doubt it was her fault when she has a bloody nose and you don't even have a scratch on yourself." I snap.

"She started it! Okay? It wasn't me this time!" He says but I still had yet to believe him.

"And what exactly did she do?" I ask as I step in front of Tobin.

"She can't keep her damn eyes off of me," He mumbles.

I slap him across the face. I'm angry.

"Now that's bullshit! We're done Servando. Period," I say as I push him away.

"You've got to be kidding me! We're done when I say we're done!" He says, grabbing me by the collar of my shirt.

"I have a say in this relationship too!" I yell back at him. "Now get the hell away from us before I call the cops."

Servando finally releases me and storms off. I make sure he makes it to his car and drives away before my attention goes to Tobin who's still on the ground as if she was unable to move.

I crouch down next to her and move her hair away from her face.

"I'm sorry, I should've been here sooner." I say, shaking my head.

"It wouldn't have made a difference," Tobin whispers and she slowly begins to sit up.

"Well who would've stopped him?" I ask, dusting the dirt off of her back.

"No one," She whispers.

"Here, let me take you to my house. I'll get you cleaned up," I say as I help her up.

"Alex, you don't have to do that," Tobin says.

"You're my teammate Tobin, we're supposed to have each other's backs. Besides, you're my friend." I say with a smile.

"You don't have to pity me. I know I'm weak and fragile and whatnot, but I don't need any help," Tobin says.

"Well who's going to stick up for you when people like Servando come up to you?" I ask and she stays silent.

"I don't mind helping you out as long as you're okay. That's what matters. Now let me take you to my place." I say but she shakes her head no.

"I can get home just fine and I can clean a bloody nose," Tobin says as she pulls away from me.

I let out a sigh knowing it wasn't worth pushing.

"Okay just... Let me know if you need anything," I say as I wrap her into a tight hug.

It takes her a few seconds to finally hug back. I feel like I can't let go. Everything feels safer and better with just a simple embrace. It's such a satisfying feeling.

Finally, I release her and smile at her.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Tobin," I say before turning to walk back to my car.

As I get to my car, it begins to rain. I let out another sigh as I pull out of the school parking lot and begin driving back home.

As I'm doing that, I see Tobin walking in the rain. Where's her car? I think to myself.

I pull over onto the curve and roll down my window.

"Looks like you need a ride after all," I say with a small laugh.

"My car won't start," Tobin says as she shoves her hands into her pockets.

"C'mon I'll drive you home." I say. She walks around my car and hops into the passenger seat.

I wait for her to buckle up before driving her home. It's silent the entire drive to her house but it doesn't bother me. It's a rather comfortable silence.

I finally pull up to her driveway. She gathers her stuff and before opening the car door she looks at me for a long time before speaking.

"Thanks," Is all she says before opening the door and walking out.
