~Chapter 23~

~Melissa's POV~

I woke up next to Jacob in the hospital. I sat up and rubbed my eyes and looked over to Jacob who was still sleeping. I checked the time and it was 8:48 am.

Me: Jacob..
I whispered.
Me: Jacob... JACOB!!
I yelled in his ear. He got up right away and screamed.
Jacob: WHAT!?!?!
Me: *Laughs* Can you call your mom to check me out of this place.
Jacob: Sure. I'll be right back.
He gave me a peck on the lips and walked out. I just sat there a bit shocked that he did that. We aren't dating. Are we? Am I still dating Josh? I am so confused.

~A few hours later~

I'm outside of my house. But I don't want to go in. I was hesitating. So I decided to go to the park, but first I have to call someone and tell them something. I dialed the number and he answered.

???: Hello?
Me: Hey... can you meet me at the park. I have something important to tell you.
???: Okay I'll see you in 5

I walked to the park. And I sat on the bench waiting for him to come.
???: Melissa.
I looked behind me and I see him.
Me: Mark!

~Mark's POV~

Melissa called me telling me to meet her at the park. So I did. I was kinda confused, like didn't she just come out of the hospital? I walked to the park until I saw her there.

Me: Melissa.
Mel: Mark!
She got up and came up to me and gave me a hug. I hugged her back.
Me: What are you doing here? I thought you just came out of the hospital aren't you supposed to be resting?
Mel: Nahh I didn't feel like going in my house so I decided to call you. I have something to tell you anyways.

We sat down at the bench and she started talking.
Mel: *Sighs* Okay. So yesterday, after you told me to go tell Jacob how I feel. Josh stopped me and told me that he knew what I was gonna do. And he didn't like it. Then he tried and to stop me by grabbing my wrist really hard.

She put out her wrist and saw that is had more stiches on it.

Me: You said you were fine! Why didn't you just tell me. He's the one that put you in the hospital.
Mel: I was scared and yeah...anyway. So I went to wash it. And I saw Jacob with Maddie, and me being well being jealous I interupted their moment. Then I stormed off after I told Maddie the truth. I went to the park. Where Jacob found me and we were talking about our feelings..when we later on kissed.

I was shocked to hear this from her right now. She's never cheated on anyone. But I don't really know what kind of situation she's in.

Me: Okay. So you broke up with Josh before it happened right?
She looked down.
Me: Oh. Okay, tell me more.
Mel: Okay. Josh caught us and said that I have to choose between them.
Me: WHAT!?!? You have to choose! Okay so who do you choose.
Mel: Umm... okay. But you can't tell anyone! Okay? Promise!
Me: I promise.
Mel: I'm serious. Not even the guy I choose.
I grabbed her hands.
Me: I promise.
She nodded her head and went up to my ear and whispered it to me.
Me: What?! Are you serious?!
She nodded her head.

~Melissa's POV~

I told Mark who I chosed. He was shocked even after everything that happened between us. We decided to go to Starbucks and talk. I can actually talk to him, about everything. I really trust him. He's like my guy best friend. After a while we went to my home.

Me: Hey! Thanks for today. I really needed to talk to someone.
Mark: Anytime. So? When are you planning to tell him that he's the one that you want?
Me: Hmmm... I don't know. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe not. I have to go to other one to tell hin he's not the one. I'm a little nervous to tell them.
Mark: It's gonna be alright.
Me: Thank you so much Mark.
I gave him a big hug.
Me: Do you wanna come in and watch a movie with me. I have been in the hospital for two weeks. I really need to relax.
Mark: Sure.

We walked inside me house and I found my mother crying. Why is she crying? She never cries.
Me: Mom?
Mom: Melissa!!
Me: What's wrong?
She started crying even more.
Mom: Mel... it's your father.

My heart sank.
Me: My father? What about my fath...No..no..no..no It can't be true! You're lying to me! Please..tell me that you're lying!! I..no..I can..pleas..

My voice started breaking. And tears started falling from my face. My father has been the only one who showed that he actually cared. He's the one who defended me. He's the one that will tell me to get out when they are fighting.

I started crying really hard. I fell onto the floor and Mark grabbed me. He was holding me. I was sobbing on Mark's shoulder. Hoping that it isn't true. I can't believe that he's gone.
My father...is actually Gone.
