I. The Reality of Change in My Life

"Change is the successive actualization of the potency: it is the transition from being something in potency to being something in act," (Alvira, et al. p. 74).

Change in the life of every created individual is inevitable. In my case, my introverted self, potency of becoming an extrovert, is slowly actualized as I undergo seminary formation. My physical, mental, spiritual and moral growth is also a manifestation of change in my life. The empty self of mine, a potency that needs to be actualized, is slowly filled with the different perfections or actualities with the aid of the seminary community, my seminarian brothers and my formators, and my family, friends and even strangers in my life. My empty self is being filled with various perfections but even though I have diverse perfections, it will not be actual unless I'll make it actual and I must also do something to develop these perfections. Therefore, I, myself, am an act which is also potency. I, myself, am an active potency.

"In metaphysical aspect, act and potency are considered stable constituent principles of all things, such that potency, even after having been made actual, continues being a co-principle of its corresponding act," (Alvira, et al. p. 75).
