chapter twelve

I woke up, my head pounding. I laid my hand on the back of my head, feeling liquid. Bringing my hand down, I saw blood. Nervousness started filling inside me, but also drowsiness. 

A door slammed against the wall, making me jump.

"Finally, you're up." The room was dim, I saw only a black figure. "The party can finally start," they said, starting to laugh.

Parker's POV
"Hey this is Mae, sorry i couldn't answer the phone, please leave a message after the beep!"

Beep!

"Hey Mae, this is the fourth time I've called you tonight, I'm starting to get worried. Everything okay?"

I started feeling my skin crawl, why isn't she answering me?

Suddenly, my phone started to ring. Looking at it, it read Mae's name.

"Mae! Everything okay?"
"N-no, p-please h-help."
"What's going on?"
"She''l be okay," said a different voice. "As long as you do what I say."
"Who is this," I spat.

"You'll find out sooner or later. I'll leave your first task on your window. Be ready."

"What-"

Before I could finish, the line went dead.

Mae's POV

"Why are you doing this? How much money do you want? I'll get it to you, just please, let me out."

"Don't you get it? I don't care about your stupid money. I want your life. You've ruined everything for me!"

"I don't understand," I whispered. "Who are you?"

Just then, the black figure came out. 
Tears started forming in my eyes. "C-catherine?"
"No, it's your mom. Of course it's me you idiot!"
"But why?"
"Do I have to explain again?! You've got everything I want. I'm taking your life."

Tears streamed down my face, falling onto the pavement.

"Aw don't cry," she said, coming close to my face. She slapped me hard, making me fall hard onto the ground, holding my cheek with my hand.

"If you don't grow up it'll be harder. Now quit your crying, you're so weak."

Catherine walked out of the room, locking the door behind her. 

I felt sick, my stomach started growling. She's going to starve me, isn't she?
