A Small Town Story

Chapter 5

“It’s Friday, Friday! Gonna get down on Friday!”

I turned to Zoe and glared at her but she continued her “wonderful” song.

“Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend. Friday, Friday. Gettin' down on Friday.Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend!” She sang. Well, more like screeched. Zoe can not sing at all.

“Zoe! Shut up before I throw you in a pit of whales!” I huffed out.

If you couldn't tell already tell, its Friday and I am in quite a bad mood at the moment. I don't know if its because I overslept, I forgot my homework for math, oh and tonight is the night I have to babysit with Tyler. Oh joy.

“That is so rude! What crawled up your butt and died?” She exclaimed. I sighed and ran my hands over my face in frustration.

There was no need for me to take my frustration out on the people around me. Especially my friends.

“It’s just not been a good day.” I told her.

I have not mentioned that Tyler was having to help me babysit. Now, you might ask me why. It’s because she doesn't really understand what he put me though. Even though I told her everything she just brushed it off and told me to get over myself. That really tested our friendship.

“Oh. Well I am sure it will get bet- OH MY GOSH MATT AND AARON ARE WALKING OVER HERE! ACT COOL!” I jumped at Zoe’s sudden announcement.

Sure enough I turn and see Matt and Aaron walking our way. I then glance back at Zoe only to see her freaking out. I rolled my eyes and nudged her trying to get her to calm down.

“Hey girls.” Matt said as he approached us.

I smiled and gave a little wave. Matt then nudged Aaron forward and he stumbled a bit before regaining his posture and opening his mouth to speak.

“So, I am throwing this party tonight and Matt and I wanted to invite you girls to it. So you girls up for it?” Aaron asked.

Before I could even open my mouth Zoe had already answered.

“YES! Uh..I mean sure I don't think we have any plans.” Zoe told them.

I watched as a smile grew on Matt's face as he hear Zoe’s answer. “Ok good. See you girls later!” Matt said before walking away.

Awe.

I quickly turned to Zoe. “I can't go tonight! I have to babysit and if you would have let me speak I would have told them and you that!” I said frustrated.

“Oh come on Taylor, just get someone else to babysit. You have to come!” Zoe pouted. I really did want to go. I mean I just got invited to a senior party for goodness sakes!

I but my bottom lip and thought about it for a minute or two. I guess I could ditch Tyler when he comes after his date. Yeah that's what I will do.

“Ok.” I told her.

She let out a cheer before we headed different ways to our classes. Maybe today won't be as bad after all.

*That Night*

“Where is he?” I said to myself as I paced around my living room floor. I glanced at the clock on the wall which read 8 o'clock. I had to meet Zoe at Aaron and Matt’s party in half an hour.

As if my thoughts had been answered, Tyler walked through the door a little over five minutes later.

He stopped in his tracks when he saw me.
