I received a brief letter from Kyran when the sixth person had gone missing. I read it in my head, matching his voice to the words.
Dear Elide,
I find myself in need of your company, even if it is at a great distance. Just to hear your voice in a letter would be sublime. I have recently suffered a great loss – one which you will be most bereaved to hear. Narelle has been found to be the sixth person in this long line of kidnappings. As none of the other victims have contacted their loved ones or turned up somewhere, dead or otherwise I fear the worst. Please write soon.
Love,
Kyran.
P.S. I write so formally because each letter written by an initiate, sent or received, is thoroughly read and searched before being cleared for the post. Send my regards to your family.
