Not One of Them

I was never one of them,
Cute laugh,
Polite grin,
Pink cheeks,
Perfect lips,
Stilettos on feet,
Beautiful dress on toned body,
Lipstick and compact powers in small purses.

Most times I'm happy that I'm not.
Reliable, strong,  independent and resilient are the qualities I take pride in.
But once on a rare blue sky day,
I'd like to walk under the sun,
With cute but comfy flats tapping the pavement,
A small ribbon on my hair,
Subtle pink on my lips,
Light touch up on my face.
On this day I'd like to be pretty and prim,
Have doors opened up for me,
Maybe even a hot chocolate on the house.

But I'm not,
And I don't know why I'm going for the impossible.
I ain't pretty,
So am I that stupid for wishing to be Cinderella for just one day?
