"Should we really take the chance of getting killed out there and not only the damn eaters out there but the shots that are being fired?" Fran asked quietly.

"I think so. I don't want you dying here by starving." Nick replied. He looks into Fran's green eyes and holds her head in his hands.

"But, we'll be safe and we can always raid other rooms."

"Babe, come on. We need to."

"But I don't want to die out there.."

"I'll be by you the entire time. I'll never let go of your hand. I promise." Nick grabs Fran's hand and faked a smile. Sweat was coming down to his brow but he wipped it before it got there and he waited for her response. She nodded and lowered her eyes. He let go of her hand to get their backpacks full of clothes and food. They put on their bags, grabbed each others hand and walked out of the apartment.

Nick didn't expect the entire place to look so... normal. No doors were opened up, no clothes are on the floor, no blood and no bodies. The elevator stills works, but he walks pass it and heads to the staircase. They shots can still be heard while they're in the staircase and it annoys Nick, but he tries to focus on the shooting to make sure that they are still out there, not going anywhere or dead. Fran's breathing is controlled but Nick can hear that she is struggling to keep strong, even so, Fran still keeps on going, controlling her breathing.

Still holding hands, they make it to the lobby. This, Nick expected to run into: bodies are all over the place, blood is painted on the walls, shells and bags are over the place. A car is crashed into the front door, but there is still a way to get through which is going into the car and coming out the back door. Nick tries to make a logical way to through the car, but it's no use. He lets go of Fran's hand. Understanding, Fran agrees and goes first.

With the glass covering the seats, Fran takes her time getting through the car. Opening the back door, Fran makes it out without a scratch and waves at Nick to make it through. He nods and starts making his way through the window until he heard Fran scream. "AH, NICK NICK NICK HELP!" A zombie grabbed Fran and tried to take a huge chunk out of her. She shoved it off and reached in the car and yelled amongst the shooting, "HURRY!" Nick scrabbled in the car and hurried to the back door, but a glass shard went in to arm. "AH, FUCK!" Nick yelled, but grabbed Fran's hand and left the car.

With the zombie getting back on it's feet Fran tighted her grip and Nick looked around for a weapon. There were no weapons in the car or on the floor next to the door. Then he glanced at his arm with the, ratherly large, glass shard in his arm he didn't have time to take out. With one quick breath, Nick took it out, letting out a slightly loud yell with blood gushing out of it and stuck it in the zombie's head as it got closer. It fell down with a loud THUMP.

"Is it dead?" Fran asked.

"I think so." Nick repiled. He kicked the body.

"How did you know it would die like that?"

"Zombie movies. Zombie books. Almost aim for the head."

"Fucking amazing." Fran kissed his cheek. "Fucking hell," Fran said as she looked at his arm. "We need to go find those people or something. We need to make the bleeding stop."

"Yeah," Nick gasped. "Yeah, let's go." Still holding hands, they hurried down the street. The shooting eased down, but it was going on. Nick listened closely. Turning the corner, Fran noticed first and said, "Look, they're still alive." She pointed ahead at five zombies sitting or lying but still moving. "Come on, through here." Nick said, and dragged Fran into the shops. Out of luck, it was a restaurant. They went into the kitchen and grabbed a couple knifes and more food to put in their bags. Returning outside, they see that the zombies all moved towards to edge of the street on the other side.
