***ROWAN POV***

The champtions had been chosen, but something went very wrong. The goblet started glowing again, and out of the purple and orange flame rose another note as well as the shadows of two animals. A snake slithered across the Great Hall and, in the form of smoke, disappeared into the Slytherin crest. An eagle roze from the smoke as well and flew around the hall before disappearing into the Ravenclaw crest hanging over the hall. As Dumbledore held the note in his hand, staring towards the places the animals disappeared.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Kellan run out of the hall. I turned back to Dumbledore.

"It appears," he said, a twinkle in his eye, "that the descendants of Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin are upon us as well as another Champion." He looked towards the piece of paper in his hand and slowly opened it. His face slowly became grim. "Harry Potter," he said quietly, his eyes darting around. "Harry Potter!" Harry slowly walks up to the front of the Great Hall. People yell cruel things at him, but I pay almost no attention.

"Some of the descendants are here," Dumbledore finally says. "We will need to research this more, and if we find the descendants we might have to make them compete." Murmers are sent through the crowd. "More of this will be discussed later."

What does it mean if the descendants are here? Do they have to compete in the tournament?

I feel like that's why Kellan disappeared before Dumbledore could say anything else.

************************************

McGonagall had called an assembly. So we were all gathered in the Great Hall with the tables stacked to the sides so people could move around.

"Okay, students!" McGonagall exclaims, calling for our attention. She made all the boys go on the other side of the room so this must be the ball my parents had told Draco and I about. "Settle down, settle down..." The room slowly gets quiet. "Now, it is tradition that before the Triwizard Tournament is held there should be a Yule Ball." The girls in the room go crazy, including Natalie. I pretend not to care, although deep down I am very excited. Okay, maybe not that deep. Okay, I'm just excited! I look for Kellan beside me to discover she's looking at the ground and not squealing with the rest of the girls. When James cheated on her it made her so incredibly sad that I wanted to beat the crap out of James, but I refrained. He's a strong, tall guy. He'd probably kick my arse faster than I can say Quidditch.

"It's all right, Kell," I say, "We can go and just have a good time. I don't plan on saying yes to anyone." Kellan shakes her head.

"I know a handfull of boys in here that would want to ask you out, Row," she says with a frown.

"Oh, like boys aren't lined up to get a chance with you!" Kellan gives me a sideways glance.

"What do you-"

"Mr. Weasley!" I jump as McGonagall motions for Ron Weasley to come up with her. "Place your hands on my waist," she says. The whole crowd is laughing.

"Your what?!" He asks, looking absolutely horrified. They start dancing and I catch sight of Dalton across the room, making no attempt at concealing his laughter. When he starts talking to the Weasley twins, I look away.

Why can't I get him out of my head?

It was the question that had been bugging me for days now. At first I just thought it was because he's in my classes and stuff, but then I realized he's always been. What's changed this year? Is it because he was so kind to me?

I don't even listen about how McGonagall goes on about the Yule Ball and the proper attire and the dancing. I only listen when she tells us to find a partner.
