***ROWAN POV***
I can't get what Kellan told me about the prophecy out of my head.
One of us has to die? The other has to kill them?
Plus I saw something that happened between Kellan and Dalton. While I was going to research the prophecy that affects both of us, Dalton was chasing her, and she was running and giggling. Then he fell on top of her. I could see them talking to each other. They got in trouble with Professor Snape, but that didn't take away the feeling of betrayal that fluttered in my chest.
Why do you care, Rowan? I ask myself. You don't like him, surely. He's a Gryffindor.
When did you become so racist towards Gryffindors?
I don't know, you tell me.
He's a sweet, kind, and really fit guy! He might be a Gryffindor, but that doesn't mean you don't like him.
I hate it when you're right.
We're the same person, dumbass.
Oh.
What the hell am I doing then?
I shake my head as Draco and I are in the library, working on our potions essays. Draco and I have grown apart since I started hanging out with Dalton more, but he doesn't know about Dalton. He thinks Dalton is just a kid I have to tutor, he doesn't know I see Dalton practically every day.
"You've gotten almost nothing down, Rowan." I glance from Draco to my blank paper and sigh.
"I know....I'm just really distracted." Draco looks at me sympathetically.
"I know, I know," he says with a slight shake of his head. "Here, let me help you." And so Draco goes over each detail that needs to be in the paragraph. I find it odd that someone is helping me with an essay, but in a way it feels good to be helped. I mean, everyone needs help, right?
Once we're done I get up and hug Draco.
"Thanks," I tell him. I hug him for a little too long. "You coming?" I ask. He looks to the table, scratching the back of his head.
"No, I think I'll stay for a little while." I smile, ignoring how his face looked pink.
"Okay, I'll see you later then." I then walk out of the library, a smile on my face. People stare at me as I walk, like they always do, but it seems to bug me less today. I haven't heard anything from my parents in months (beside when I was chosen as a champion) and it makes me feel happy. Maybe, for once, I'm doing it right. For once I'm pleasing them. That gives me a feeling of both pleasure and disappointment in myself for doing what they want.
I almost jump out of my skin as Dalton appears in front of me, smiling like he always is.
"I was thinking we could have a surprise session today?" He asks me, his dark eyes glittering. I put one hand on my hip and glance at my watch.
"I'm not sure...I have to do some things before dinner..." Dalton pouts.
"Come on, it'll only take a second!" He whines, tugging on my arm. I shrug, still smiling a little bit.
"Okay..." I give in and let Dalton pull me along. Suddenly, I see Tyson coming. "Dalton," I say urgently, ripping my arm out of his hand. He stands off to the side quickly and I keep walking so it doesn't seem like I was with him. If Tyson found out, I'd be in so much trouble, and Dalton knows it too. Especially if he went and told Draco...
