Mr. Babbit

I have a cute, little rabbit
Whose name is Mr.Babbit,
I found him unclaimed at the tiny pet shop.

His fur is so white,
Contrasts with his tights
And his black hat which has a high top.

He loves to exercise
But not run after mice,
He prefers a roll and a hop.

He doesn't have any rabbit friends,
They think his brain has loose ends
Because he wears clothes and drinks tea.

They don't understand,
Without clothes he would get tanned
And he's allergic to carrot and pea.

I ask him if that makes him sad.
He asks me if I am mad.
This way he doesn't have to eat his own poo-poo-pee!

But I know he feels alone,
I have been in the same zone,
So I ask him if he wants to play ball.

But he says he wants to perform magic instead,
Hopping on my bed,
He says he's a natural with hats and wands and scrolls.

So we set up a show
My friends are lined up in a row
But when he goes on stage, they can't see him at all!

My first attempt at a children's poem.Written on the prompt "Magic Rabbit" for The Thinky Ink-Scribers' Club.

(Not-so)Fun Fact: Rabbits eat some  of their own poop. It helps reabsorb the nutrients not digested in the first go. Weird (and gross!) how nature works huh?

Question: Why do you think the friends couldn't see the rabbit? What is your interpretation here? And did you like the poem?
