So Crystal saved the day, she stopped a potential war and brought peace back between the American and Chinese divisions of the bending world. The camp was put together again and even extended all the camper’s stay two more weeks to better improve their bending. Crystal spent the next three weeks learning the basics of the other three elements and studying waterbending in her down time.
When the time came to leave, Talula was sent on the West coast plane while the rest of the gang was sent on the East coast plane. On the flight ride home, they all promised each other to stay in touch and to visit whenever they could. They all exchanged contact information and their own share of good-bye tears.
Crystal was the first to find her family when they landed. It wasn't hard to miss them when there are thirteen people all holding a large banner with the name "CRYSTAL" written on it. Tears filled Crystal's eyes when she saw the welcome awaiting her. She ran to their open arms as they all took part in a massive group hug.
Mahoney spotted his parents and older brother next. Demetri and Page looked to see if anyone was waiting for them when they finally spotted two familiar figures. Demetri pointed out his older sister and Page found her dad. They hugged.
"What if we don't keep in touch?" Page asked completely mortified by the thought.
Demetri smiled, "I live across town from you Page. And Mahoney and Crystal have each other. We'll be fine, I promise."
Page gave a weak smile back and wiped away a tear, "You're right. Come on, I want to introduce you to my dad."
As Page and Demetri's family met, Crystal was still enjoying her own family reunion.
"We missed you like crazy!" Jake concluded after telling Crystal everything she missed throughout the month the June.
"And now that you've had your fun, we get you all to ourselves!" Hank added in an evil voice followed by his version of evil laughter.
Crystal laughed, "I look forward to it."
And it was true, after four weeks of living in what seemed like something right out of a book world, Crystal was looking forward to spending the rest of her summer like a normal teenager.
"Oh! But I forgot, I want to introduce you to the friends I made at camp!" Crystal exclaims excitedly. She scans the crowds and spots Page and Demetri talking to a girl and an older gentleman. "I'll be right back."
Crystal takes off to catch Demetri and Page before they leave.
"Hey guys," she greets as she approaches.
"Hi Crystal! Dad, this is the girl I was just telling you about," Page said.
Page's dad extends his hand, "Its a pleasure to meet Page's new friend."
Crystal shakes his coarse hand, "The pleasure is all mine. Do you mind if I borrow Page and Demetri for a moment before you guys leave."
Demetri looks at the slender girl next to him who shrugs, "I don't mind."
"Go for it," Page's dad said.
Crystal leads the two over to where her family is gathered. "Guys, meet my family. Family, this is Page and Demetri."
Crystal family greeted them warmly. Page waved sheepishly, Crystal said she came from a big family, but she never would have guessed this big!
"If you ever want to visit," Crystal's mom began, "You just let us know and we can pick you up or send you a train ticket."
"We can just take the bus," Page said.
"Never!" Crystal's Dad exclaimed. "We will not willingly allow Crystal's friends to take the bus when we can easily arrange for them to travel by different means."
"Thank you Mr. Letterman," Demetri said, "we really appreciate it."
"Of course," he replied.
Crystal turned toward them, "I guess this is it - "
"Are you guys really saying good-bye without me?!" Mahoney waltzes up to the gang and wraps his arms over Crystal's and Page's shoulders.
"I thought you left already," Crystal responded, taken by surprise.
Mahoney scoffed, "Me leave without saying one last good-bye? Never."
They all laughed and shared their final good-bye.
Page took a hold of Crystal's shoulders and looked her dead in the eyes, "You have to promise me that you won't forget to keep in touch okay? There's still a month of Summer left. Promise me we'll see each other again."
Crystal took a hold of Page's shoulders. "I promise you Page Brooks, that I Crystal Letterman will see you again before this Summer comes to an end. Okay?"
Page nodded, "Okay."
And with that, the four of them went their separate ways. Each assuming that when they returned home, things would be the way it was before they left for The Element Academy. None of them could have even imagined the events that would unfold next.
