A Nin Pet

After the Hokage dropped the bomb on Naruto, Erilanis remained quiet, speculating. It was possible she looked like some of the birds, but ...

Most of those who had gone missing after touching the orb were druids like her. This most likely meant that somehow, the orb was luring in druids.

Erilanis could tell why though. There was so much Nature Energy here, that the first time she tried to channel some, she felt mana high. 

Today, Naruto was going back to the Academy. Erilanis insisted on going with him, in bird form. She gave him money to buy leather shoulders and lower arm guards, so that her metal covered talons won't cut him. He wore them under that orange monstrosity he called clothes. 

Erilanis shuddered. She is definitely making him go shopping for real clothes soon. Or, if he could get her cloth, she'd make some for him. Being a Tailor has its perks, she mused as she watched him run to the Academy.

Soon he came upon a building and stopped, then whistled. That was her cue to fly down and land on his shoulder. Walking inside the building confidently, as he was with Erilanis Shan'do, Naruto did something that caused Iruka's heart to stop. 

He quietly arrived early. 

Naruto took his seat and began stroking Erilanis's feathers. She trilled softly and preened his hair as they waited for the others to arrive. 

Sasuke walked in and the first thing he did was zero in on Erilanis. "Hey deadlast, you got a bird?" Said bird turned its head and seemed to glare at him.

"So what if I did, teme?" 

"What did you have to do to make it stay with you? Clip its feathers?" he sneered. With a screech Erilanis was airborne and aiming for Sasuke's face.

"Erilanis, no!" With a short trill, Erilanis stopped midair, squawked and flew back to Naruto, glaring at Sasuke haughtily from her perch on Naruto's shoulder.

Sasuke snorted. "Your bird couldn't hurt me, dobe." To prove a point, Erilanis waved her metal covered talons slowly,  in a mock wave. 

This perked the Uchiha's interest. "Is that a nin bird?" Naruto's eyes flashed before he nodded. 

"MY OWN NIN BIRD DATTEBAYO!" he yelled while smiling. Erilanis rapped him on the head with her wing. "To loud?" he asked sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head when she nodded. In what sounded like a stampede, the rest of the class filed in. Most of them openly gawked at Naruto, making Erilanis ruffle up her feathers and stare at them.

When she did this to Akamaru, he yelped and hid behind Kiba. “What’s wrong Akamaru?” Kiba asked worriedly. The dog peered back at Erilanis and whimpered. Kiba’s head snapped around so fast, Erilanis thought he might get whiplash for a second.

“You got a nin pet Naruto?” At this Shikamaru woke up and inspected the bird as well.

“She looks ready to kill. Such a drag...” Erilanis just chirped and snuggled into Naruto. She was going to protect him with everything she had.

No one messes with her family….
