Narrator’s POV

Emily sat on Luke’s couch. She heard every word that was coming from the other room. Her face was covered in tears. She didn’t notice she was crying until she saw  her reflection, in a mirror that was across from her.

She couldn’t take any more hate than she was already getting, especially from Luke’s mom. So, she did the only thing she knows how to, run. She made her way to the door and ran out, never looking back.

Emily went into the front door, then immediately up to her room. She laid on her bed, crying and thinking. She just laid there for hours listening to the beeps go on and off from her phone. She didn’t bother to check who it was from, because she knew who it was from.

Finally, she closes her eyes. Keeping the world out and her thoughts in.

__________

“Emily,” her mom came through the door, startled by the noise Emily screamed, “Luke told me to tell you that he’s sorry and that you should answer his texts.” She left the room while closing the door ever so quietly, as if the sound of it would make Emily break down even more.

Emily looked at her phone to see what Luke wanted.

*20 New Messages*

‘He wasn’t joking,’ she thought in her head. She read one text that went like this,

From Luke: Hey, why did you leave?

From Luke: Did I do something wrong? Oh, god I did.

From Luke: Did you hear what me and my mom were talking about? I would NEVER leave you for Chloe. She’s a bitch. Ps I don’t care what my mom says, I  need you.

That was only some of the texts that Emily read. After she read them she put her phone down and she went back to sleep. You might be thinking, ‘Gosh, she’s so stupid, just text Luke back.’ But to  her it’s not so simple. She has been hurt a lot and she needs to think about what to say to luke; because she doesn’t want to do this over text.

2 Weeks Later

Emily’s POV

I haven’t talked to Luke in forever. To make it harder not to talk to him, is that we sit next to each other in almost every class. I have to talk to him, I have no idea how though. He’s probably mad at me, he probably doesn’t want to talk to me.

“Hey, little emo bitch! Move out of the way!” Someone says as I walk down the hallway.

“Leave her alone, you dick!” A voice emerged from all the chaos. A voice I knew all too well, Lucas.

“Wanna say that again, to my face?” The boy said to Luke.

“Yeah, I do.” Luke says while looking him dead in the eyes. “Leave her alone, you dick.” His voice was the angriest I have ever heard.

“And what are you going to do about it? Punk!” The the boy threw a punch at Luke, but Luke some how managed to get out of the way. It reminded me of the scene in Spider Man, where Parker is fighting that one dude. I just stare in disbelief at what happened.

“Luke!” I don’t know what came over me. “Don’t fight him Luke, you’re better than that.” I say, because I truly don’t want him to get beat up for me. Luke looks over in my direction. While Luke is looking at me, the boy decided to take his chance and punch Luke dead in the face. “NOOOO! You ass hole!!”
