"Ladybug is amazing,"
"Ladybug is awesome,"
"Ladybug is smart,"
"Ladybug is brave,"
"Ladybug is kind,"
"Ladybug is agile,"
"And you will never be ladybug."
I woke up, the terror of the whispering nightmare plaguing my usually content dreams wisp away.
"Tikki?" I asked, my voice quiet and croaky, my eyes still caked with sleep and blurred when I made the effort to rub them away.
"Yes Marinette? What is it?" came the small, high-pitched voice.
I pursed my lips.
"Never mind."
I dismissed the words easily enough, though the the slight weight on my shoulders didn't get any better.
I knew I should've told Tikki, let her help me and encourage me with kind and patient words, but today, I wasn't in the mood.
"Uhhh... Marinette?"
I blinked a couple of times when my eye's were still hazy from propping myself up into a sitting position.
"Yeah?"
"It's 9:00, you'd better hurry, you're 15 minutes late!!!"
Well that jolted me out of bed.
"WHHHAAATTT???!!!" I yelled, already slipping on my white, pink-patterned shirt and jacket, pants still only half-way on when I skidded around the sharp corner of the trapdoor that lay open, almost falling down the stairs in the rush.
On my way out, I noticed the pink bag and satchel beside it, containing my breakfast and lunch.
Silently thanking my parents who had gone out for something important in the morning, I ran hurriedly across the road, trying to avoid all the pedestrians and reached the open redwood double-doors, lungs still heaving with the effort even after I 'sneaked' into class, getting caught by the teacher though.
Without even turning around, she muttered, "Marinette, I'll let you off today, because I'm in a good mood, but next time, don't count on it."
Her voice was stern, and I tried my hardest to ignore the snotty giggles coming from the desk at the front, to the right.
"Yes ma'm," I murmured, slight shame in my voice.
Alya nudged me on the shoulder, her way of comforting me as I plopped my tired head onto the desk.
Last night, Chatnoir and I stayed up until 3am in the morning, trying to catch this Akuma called the 'moon goddess''.
A girl who was shunned because everyone thought she was weird, always staying up at night to watch the moon.
So you could say that I was the happiest of ladybugs when the school bell rang, a reason to be able to go home and catch up on some well-needed 'z's'.
As I walked down the stone steps of 'College Francois Dupont', a familiar snobby voice halted me in the middle of my tracks.
"Well look at who it is?! It's little miss sleepy-head. Want to know how I keep up my beauty? Well, it's because I'm not you! Hah hah hah hah!"
When she laughed, she sounded like as if it were the funniest thing in the world, her loyal follower, Sabrina, laughing along with her.
I clench my teeth, an unknown anger starting to boil.
