Here's the edited version of your story! I do tend to go overboard with editing, and I'm kinda scared that I've overdone it, as I have put in some extra parts (as well as taken out a lot of the 'drawn out' words - which I wasn't particularly sure about), just to make the story seem less rushed, and flow better. But yeah, don't be afraid to ask me to change things! 😊
In a day
A year. What can you do within a year? You can do many things. It just depends on what you are doing. And what you can do.
Sarah... Sarah Faucet... Wake up...
Her eyes opened ever so slightly, the sliver enough to blind her eyes. Sunlight streaked through the windows and fell on her like a spotlight. She blinked, groaning, before slowly rising up halfway — sitting in a position where her legs where still under her cosy, warm blanket. She looked around groggily. There was nobody in her room. Where that voice came from, she didn't particularly know. But she still had a good hunch.
Sarah Taylor Faucet. Wake up. Now. The voice repeated.
"Mom?" Sarah called back.
Her gaze surveyed her room, finding that everything was a huge mess. As usual. Her window was left open, which was definitely not done by her, but it let the cool morning air enter the dusty room. That was a good thing, Sarah figured.
"Mom," Sarah whined, drawing the word out, "today's not a school day. I don't wanna get up."
A second went by.
Then another.
Sarah looked up. No one was by the door. There was no sound coming from the kitchen. No sound coming from the living room. Just... silence.
Confused and wondering if her mother had gone out to buy vegetables again, she finally rose, tumbling out of bed. She walked up to her doorway, which was left wide open.
"Mom?"
Sarah.
She stepped out.
"Mom? Are you ho—mmff!"
Sarah was cut off mid-sentence by a man, who grabbed her and covered her mouth, never once letting go of his tight grip. His hands covered her mouth and her nose, stopping her from breathing or making any sound. Sarah flung her arms and legs around, making a desperate attempt to break free from the man's tight clutch, but in vain. Oxygen was slowly draining out of her, and her lungs were building up with the pressure. Nevertheless, Sarah still continued to struggle, kicking and screaming as much as she could — even when all the sound she made came out muffled. She was wasting her breath.
Black flickered at the corners of her eyes, and then spotted over her vision, but before she completely lost consciousness, she heard the same voice again.
Sarah...
Wake up.
Sarah...
Sarah!
Wake up!
"Sarah!" Her mother shrieked.
Sarah shot up, bolting into an awakened state. Her eyes were still wide, her lungs still heaving. The nightmare had been too real for comfort. Even now she couldn't shake off the spiders of paranoia that crept up her spine.
"Wake up! Your alarm rang through 10 minutes straight! You have school, remember?" Her mom yelled, continuing on without a hitch, "Worse, it's the start of a school year!! You're going to embarrass yourself. You have less than half an hour to get ready! Chop chop!"
