I HAVEN'T BEEN IN NEW ORLEANS SINCE 1729 when it was in the first few years of being founded. The renovations of the city I once knew amazes me, just as Mystic Falls did when I first returned. There's people dancing in the street to the jazz music playing. I walk into a bar, seeing the liveliness of it's business and make my way to the bartender. I can sense all eyes on me as I lean over the counter."I'm looking for someone," I tell the bartender, "About yea high, obnoxious, decent looking, has an accent, calls everyone love — temperamental thing."
"Um." She tries to wrack her brain for the memory.
"Goes by Klaus." I add.
"No, I'm sorry."
"Well, if you do see him, tell him Nadia's looking for him."
I send her a smile before pushing my way out the bar. Ivonna meets me on the street, dancing and grinding to the music. The smile on her face is unmistakeable and I can't help but join her in her fun. We lose ourselves in the crowd as we continue to dance to the jazz music. We venture to a not-so-crowded area, however we continue dancing as if we have no cares in the world.
As if we didn't leave our lives behind — one thousand five hundred and forty three miles, sort of behind. People start to surround us and these people aren't dancing or smiling like such. No, they aren't even human — they are the immortal blood suckers Ivonna and I seem to attract. I stop all movement and look them head on, a small smirk playing on my lips. I'm prepared for a fight, even if they aren't.
"They said you were back but I had to see for myself." The voice steps out of the shadows and belongs to Marcellus — an old friend.
"Your eyes don't deceive you." I smile, playing it cool.
"And you brought your sister." He points out.
"Attached to the hip — her and I."
"Forgot — mystical connection. The super twins."
"So they aren't a threat?" One of his goonies asks.
"Of course not, they're our guests." Marcellus answers.
"Call us the super twins again, and we will become a threat." I smirk.
Ivonna starts chuckling to herself as a thought crosses her mind and sadly, the same thought crosses my mind. I can't help but laugh along with her. Marcellus' friends give us a weird look but he just smirks along at us. As we stand there laughing, I watch the thought playing behind my eyes. It is the thought of making them see their worst fears and nightmares come to life inside their minds, and as they're begging for someone's — anyone's mercy, —we will burst their blood vessels over and over again until we drive a stake through their hearts. I allow the thought to disappear from my mind as well as the darkness in my eyes as I focus back on Marcellus.
"What brings you back, Nadia?" His words ring out.
"Lots of things, I mean it was once my home-" I start.
"Now, come on, Nadia."
"You asked, Marcellus. Just answering the question."
"It's Marcel now."
"I prefer Marcellus much better. Sounds more unique, ancient." Ivonna inputs her opinion.
"It's a new city now, V. Change of name is only necessary." He smiles.
I take a look around at this new city, however being alive for thousands of years new ends up becoming old. I shrug, seeing that the change is like any other city that's been for ages.
