Chapter 14: Food (Unedited)

Katsumi POV...

Thursday came quickly and the whole basketball team had to skip a whole day of school. Today was their first match against Kurozako Middle and it will be quite easy for them since I helped Satsu-nee with the training menus. They should win with a huge gap but I can't help the feeling that I feel so empty since Akashi was not here.

I smile every time I recall when I realise my love for Akashi. I've been in love with him from the very start and I started to attend basketball practice to observe the basketball team and of course be with Akashi. 

Just recently, I found out that Izunami was Akashi's childhood friend so I wasn't that jealous anymore when I see them together.

The bell had just rung and I was putting away my books before leaving the school compound. "Sumimasen Momoi." I lift my head to see Izunami walking up to me. "Can you help me with cleaning. The other girl who was supposed to help me was absent for the day." She asks nicely. To be honest, I didn't know why she was asking me when all the boys at school was in love with her. Surely if she went up to one and ask him they will accept in a heart beat. 

"Sure." I said. "Great!" She dragged me to get the broom and scoop and then we went to our classroom to start cleaning. While we were cleaning, Izunami was making conversation. "So tell me how it is like to have SAD." How does she know about that? She has been here for four days and she knew that all of that already. I shouldn't think too much about it. Since I fainted maybe someone had started a rumour or something. She is one of the most popular girls here anyways. It's only a natural.

"It can be very frustrating but now I started to take pills for it." I answered honestly. I didn't know why she wanted to know that but I still answered. "Okay, next question, do you like Sei-chan?" "No." I love him but why do she asking me these things? Does she not know of personal privacy. 

"What does your parents works as?" She asked another question. "My father works as a business man and he tends to go overseas a lot with my mother as his secretary." I said. I didn't know what kind of business man he is but I have to trust him eevn though he and okasan likes to keep their profession secretive. He is my father overall. 

"I see. Is there anything you want to ask me? If you don't than I'll be taking my leave." I shook my head in response. She left the classroom as I did the same a little after her.

I unlock the door to the house. I untied my school shoes and slip on the usual shoes I wear at home. I turn on my phone as I slung my backpack down on the sofa. It's quiet. A bit too quiet. I scan my surroundings and try to hear a noise to indicate that Satsu-nee was home. 

I felt my phone vibrate and pulled it out of my pocket. There was a text message from Satsu-nee earlier today. I read the text quietly to realise that she went out with the boys to celebrate and to practice in a court near the stadium they compete at. They passed the preliminaries and now they went on. I smiled but then got another text.

From: Satsu-nee

To: Nee-chan

Nee-chan, the boys will be coming over to eat dinner at our house. We are going to buy the ingredients and will be at home around 5 for us tp start cooking!

4:13 pm

I immediately started my homework to get it over with so it wouldn't be a bother later on. The Generation of Miracles are going to come and that means that Akashi will be here again. I smiled at the thought.

It was now 5:30 and the whole GoM was here. I was in the kitchen alone preparing the food. Satsu-nee wasn't here to help me since Aomine and everyone else doesn't want hr to cook or help.

Everyone was either watching television or talking. I mix the batter for strawberry shortcake I was making until I felt a presence behind me. "Do you need some help?" I stopped mixing and turned to Akashi. Just hearing his voice makes my day better no matter how much he speaks.

"You can mix the batter while I get the plate. The food is almost ready." I said. Akashi came closer to me and took the spatula off my hands. His hand brushed against mine for a second as I feel my heart quicken. 

"Is there anything else you need help with?" He says as he mixes the batter. "You can help me place the food on the plates." I said while I place many kinds of plates on the counter. "Pour the batter into the baking tray." I said when I went to inspect the batter. 

As he pours the batter inside, I went to close the fire and open the lid.It was letting out a delicious aroma as I mix the curry. It was nothing simple but I also made a few different dishes. I pop the batter into the oven and had Akashi help me place the food onto the plates.

"Kat-chin, is the food ready?" Murasakibara says lazily as he came into the kitchen. "It's smelling so good ssu! I can't wait to eat it ssu!" Kise said after Murasakibara. "It's not like what I want to know but what are you making?" Midorima pushes his glasses up. "Oi! Are you done yet?" Aomine came in. 

"Yes, I'm finished. Can you set the table and help me put the dishes on it?" I ask. It's kind of fun having people like this around in your life. I never want to change this and I hope it never does change.

We all sat together in the rectangular table and ate. Murasakibara and Aomine were having an eating contest as everyone else ate in a normal pace. Akashi sat at one end while i sat on his right followed by Satsu-nee and Midorima. The rest sat on his left.

When I finished my food, I got up. "Nee-chan, where are you going?" Satsu-nee asks when she saw me carrying my plate. "I am getting the dessert ready." I said. "Really, do you want me to help?" Satsu-nee was about to get up until Aomine slams down his plate and yelled,"No! Your staying here!" 

I sweatdropped and made my way to the kitchen. I place the plate into the sink and opened the oven to smell the aroma the strawberry shortcake was emmiting. I put on my oven mittens and pulled out the circular tray. 

I popped the cake into the fridge to let it cool quicker as I make the frosting and get the rst of the ingredients ready. 

"Sweet." I heard someone say. "Akashi?!" I said when I saw him take a bite of the strawberries that I just washed. "What are you doing h-" I stopped in the middle of my sentence when Akashi popped the remaining strawberry he had taken a bite of into my mouth. An Indirect kiss?!! Well, kind of. I felt my whole face heat up while I swallow the strawberry.

"Stop talking and tell me what to do." He washes his hands. "U-umm, well cut the str-strawberries in h-half." I stutter as I try to calm my nerves. He immediately started to cut the strawberries on the chopping board with the knife on top of it. Together, we decorated the cake before taking it to the dining room.

I took the last bite of my cake in total bliss. Strawberries... My favourite. I smile while holding one of my cheeks. So delicious! I look down on my plate to see it all gone with only small traces of frosting. I guess it can't be helped. 

When I was about to get up, Akashi pushes his half-eaten shortcake towards me. "I'm full. You can have ethe rest." He got up after saying that and made his way to the living room. Well, better not waste it. I should thank Akashi when I'm finished.
