The Bucket family was a poor one. There was never enough to eat, hardly any spare money and little joy. They tried as hard as they could, to be optimistic and positive.
It was challenging, but they pulled through. In the small wooden shack which they called home, was a small table with one chair, a stove sat in the corner, accompanied by a small fridge. The dark brown wooden floors, lay dirty and unswept.
Close beside the kitchen, was a small bathroom. Not much room there was. The back wall held a once grand fireplace, off white now in shambles as a dimly lit fire glowed. By the wall opposite the stove, lay an old creaky bed. It's brass frame, rusted over, and the mattress on top, dirty and torn.
In the bed covered by a dusty off-white blanket, lay four elderly people. The two sitting by the headboard was a man and woman. On the opposite side was also a man and woman. Both women were wearing light blue nightdresses, and caps. The men wore green and blue plaid pajamas.
The door opened, and through it, came two young adults, a man, and woman. The man, wearing a navy blue suit, carried the laughing woman, wearing a white wedding dress. They, are the newly wed Mr. and Mrs. Bucket. Mr. Bucket set down Mrs. Bucket and looked at his parents, and parents in law.
"Mom, dad, I'd like to introduce you, to the new, Mrs. Virginia May Bucket." The elders broke out into applause.
"Oh, James! I cannot believe you are married now!" cried the old lady at the headboard. "Can you believe it Joe?" she said, looking at the old man next to her.
"Oh, Josephine, George, Georgina and Virginia, we're a family now!" He reached out to Virginia.
And that they were. The Bucket family, on their wedding night. The elders fell asleep fast, and the newly weds snuck out, into their backyard. They lay out a blanket and looked up at the stars.
"James, I can't believe, that now we are married, and this is our wedding night," Virginia whispered.
James looked at her, and whispered, "And you know what couples do on their wedding night." Virginia swatted his arm, playfully.
"James!" She giggled. James pushed her down on the blanket. Leaning over her, he held down her shoulders. He kissed her, and whispered, "I love you."
There in their backyard, under the stars, they sealed their bond forevermore.
