Clean Sunday

What joy there was, looking out into the vast snowy town. It looked so, clean. Like a fresh cotton blanket had been draped over the earth. The small wooden house lay covered in snow. The fire glowed brightly in the fireplace, flickering light shadows over the floor.

Virginia Bucket walked quietly, as to not disturb the dog sleeping in the wooden brown chair in the corner. She walked down the hall into the nursery. She could see snow through the window. It fell with grace like feathers, millions of feathers falling down, down, down to the ground. She glanced at the baby's dresser, and her gaze landed on an object, that had not been there before. A small golden box sat atop the dresser. Silently, she crept over to it and picked it up.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be a music box. Notes of music were engraved into its sides, flowing around. A small handle, crafted out of wood, sat poking out of the side, meant to be turned. She carefully turned it, until it could turn no more. When it was released, it let out a beautiful melody. She could feel the music floating around her, winding about the room like spider silk. Just as it began, it was over.

Suddenly the door shut, and the dog began barking. James had been outside shoveling the sidewalks all morning, and it seems he was finally finished. Quickly rushing to meet her husband, she ran out towards him. She opened her arms for a hug but was quickly stopped by a strong hand.

"Whoa there, we don't want to hurt the baby." James scolded teasingly as he put his hand over her protruding abdomen. She had been pregnant for nearly four months, and she was showing slightly.

Virginia giggled in a girlish way. James couldn't help but smile. The corners of his mouth curved into a smirk which created dimples on his cheeks. Virginia loved when that happened.

"Come on," James whispered. "We have to do chores." Virginia giggled again.

"What are we, ten?" She teased. "Come on, we can have some fun." James looked at her suggestively.

"Fun? Are we gonna play Monopoly?" He joked. She shrugged.

"Sure." She replied. So together they went over to the bed and pulled out from under it, a dusty old monopoly game board. A few stray pieces were in a brown paper bag.

There on the floor, they sat, then lay, then stood, then paced, then danced. For four hours. One hour for actually playing the game, and the other three being cute and acting anywhere between the ages of six and sixteen.

Then they curled up on the floor and cuddled. Virginia rolled over to face him.

"What about chores?" She asked seductively. James sighed and gazed into her eyes.

"Screw chores." He whispered. He kissed Virginia as he had never kissed her before. Then he bent down and kissed her belly.

"Hi Virjamesia," He cooed. Virginia snickered. "I'm your daddy, and your mommy and I can't wait to meet you."
