The Last Ones Left

Chapter 15: Confrontation

I wake up suddenly to a loud scream, it's a Clicker. Wait where am I? "Joel!" I suddenly remember, I grab my bag and stuff the first aid kit in there as fast as I can then jump out of the helicopter. I land softly on a pile of snow then run back towards the yogurt shop, I hop over a row of desks blocking my way but stop in my tracks when I hear someone yell "Run!" someone yells, I duck behind one of the desks then peer around it and watch as a hunter runs out of one of the stores with a Clicker close behind him, it bites one of his friends as he shoots an arrow at the clicker still in the store and then tries to shoot the one running towards him but it gets to him before he can do anything about it, he drops a bundle of arrows and his bow that slide in my direction "Fuck..." I whisper, I reach out and take the bow and arrows while no one pays attention to me, "Oh, what the hell?" one of the hunters says. "What the hell are we doing here? Who gives a fuck about that old man and a little girl" I hear one of them say, I'm not little, I'm just sort of short. "Look, the sooner we find them the sooner we get outta here. Make sure this area's clear" one of them says.

So these are the assholes who shot at us at the university, they're the ones who hurt Joel. My face turns angry as I load an arrow and aim it towards the one who has his back turned "Don't worry Joel, they're gonna pay" I whisper then shoot the arrow at the man's heart. I quickly load another arrow and shoot at the one who turned and looked at his friend, I grab a bottle and run towards the one just walking around "Asshole!" I scream and chuck it at him, I jump on top of him and stab him in multiple different places. I stand up and wipe off his blood from my jacket, I spit on him then walk behind the store where the guys just were, I see a blood trail leading to a vent that's open "Alright, looks like I'm going in here" I say and crawl into it. I crawl to the end of the blood trail and see a skeleton with one of his arms missing, I feel like I'm gonna puke, I'm not going anywhere near him. I turn away from the body and walk down the air duct and enter a room with Clickers in it, "Shit" I whisper. I hide behind the walls connected to the platform I'm standing on as I hear voices coming from the entrance, "Anyone check in here?" one of the guys says quite loudly, I look up from the wall and see them walking around, they haven't spotted me or the Clickers yet.

I can't risk shooting the hunters then running away from the Clickers, but what if I let them all hash it out..? Ellie, you're a genius! I look around for something to throw and I see a brick across from me, I wait until the hunters are somewhat close to the clickers then I chuck the brick at one of them. I hear the Clicker's scream and run towards the guys "Fuck, who did that!?" one of the hunters yells. I smirk and watch as the hunters try to defend themselves, but to my advantage, the Clickers kill them all leaving only two clickers instead of four. "Okay, I can handle this" I mumble. I pull out my bow and arrows and aim towards the nearest clicker. I line up the arrow with its head then let it fly, it falls to the ground with a pool of blood surrounding it. Its friend runs over to it just under me, so I jump down on top of it and stab it, when I'm sure that it's dead I stand up and dust off my jeans, wow, I'm doing just fine without Joel, surprisingly. I grab a few supplies in the store then jog towards the exit, I look around and see an opening in a store "I guess I could try there" I mutter. I climb up to the opening and jump through, I land on top of the counter but pause when I hear Runners, I hold my breath and wait but luckily they didn't hear me. "Okay" I whisper and crawl towards the other side of the store, I hear the sound of footsteps but I don't see anyone "What was that?" I whisper.

I look up at the entrance and see Hunters drop down into the store "Oh shit" I hurriedly crawl back behind the register and wait 'till the hunters walk towards me. They start talking loudly meaning that they probably don't hear the infected, I'll use that to my advantage. I look around me and see a bottle under the register, bingo. I grab it and chuck it over at the hunters "Who did that!?" one of them yells, me asshole. I sit back and watch as all of the infected run over to them and they try to fight them off, "Yeah kill each other you fucks" I mutter. The Hunters start shooting aimlessly at all of them as one runs over to where I'm at, "Shit" I say and pull out my bow and arrows. I aim at him and shoot him in the heart. He falls to the ground, so i turn back and watch as the last Hunter shoots two of the Runners, shit. "Come out fuckface!" he yells, I pull out my gun and shoot him twice in the chest, "Hell yeah" I smirk and reload my gun. "Pieces of shit" I say as I walk past all of the dead bodies, I jog to the front of the store and climb up. I look around the room for supplies then I walk up to the garage door, I slowly open it being careful of any infected near by, I hold it open as I duck under then slowly close it back. I'm back where I started, "Alright Joel, I'm coming" I say and jog to the yogurt shop at the front of the mall, I pass by a dead body with a bundle of arrows and ammo next to him, well he won't miss it now.
