Chapter Three - Johnnie's Joke Shop

"He's my brother."

There was a very awkward silence that fell upon us.

I don't get it.

Why isn't Joshua happy to see his own brother? Why does he look so angry?

"Oh.. I guess you can come in then Blaine," I said trying to break the silence.

Blaine looked calm, Joshua looked... nervous? No, that isn't the right word. He looked... His expression showed a mixture of anger and unease.

"No," Joshua replied - a little too quickly. I gave him a questioning look. "I mean... He's just here to pick me up so there's no point in him coming in."

"Erm," I didn't want to take back my invitation from Blaine because that would just be rude, but I didn't want to see Joshua look this way.

"No don't worry, I've got a very busy schedule anyway. But I'll see you around," Blaine replied and winked at me.

I smiled at him. He seemed MUCH more nicer and welcoming than Joshua.

"Okay, well it was really nice meeting you. And feel free to drop by whenever you want."

"Why thank you, beautiful Alice," Blaine said making me blush again. "Joshua you better hurry up, I've got a job for you!"

"Wait here while I go and get Olly," he replied.

"No, you can come back for him later, we haven't got time to take him."

"No, we're taking Olly home first," Joshua said sternly.

They both narrowed their eyes at each other almost as if they were having some sort of silent conversation with each other.

"Erm, I hate to be annoying but I can't handle being around a dog," I said awkwardly.

"Exactly, she's just gonna be screaming in his face all day," Joshua said. For once we agreed with each other!

"Fine, but he's staying in the car while we do our job. Anything happens don't blame me," Blaine replied.

"Whatever," Joshua said before walking to the garden.

I was left alone in an awkward silence with Blaine. I just played with my hands and looked around trying to make it look like I was doing something.

"So, when did you move here?" Blaine's voice broke the silence.

"Yesterday," I replied smiling nervously.

"Well it's a pleasure that I'm one of the first people to welcome you!" He exclaimed.

"Me too! And don't tell Joshua, but your welcome is WAY nicer than his. I mean, I thought he was a zombie when I met him!" I laughed at the memory. Blaine laughed along with me.

"That's understandable, I thought he was an alien when he was born!"

"Hey, I heard that!" Joshua said as he walked towards us holding onto a leash which his dog was attached to.

I quickly ran up a few steps on the staircase to create some distance between me and the scary creature.

"Wow, you really are afraid of dogs arn't you?" Blaine asked sounding surprised.
