"Heidi?" Thamus gently tapped her shoulder from behind, making her jump. She was watching people gather to watch the duels from the sidelines silently. Heidi turned and looked up at the boy.
She seemed to relax slightly upon noticing who it was, but still her shoulders stayed tense. "Thamus....." Heidi looked at him, taking his wrist and pulling him aside. "What do you want? Do you remember what happened last time we were caught together? I'm still washing rotten tomatoes from my hair," she has to refrain herself from snapping or raising her voice.
"Well, yeah...but I just wanted to tell you something. Earlier, at the library, these two boys came in, they were about our age. I think they were dating. And I just thought....I dunno...if they can, why can't w-"
Heidi put up a hand, stopping Thamus from saying much more. "Thamus. That's their business. If they want to date, then they can. But I've told you a thousand times....my family lost its inheritance when my mom died. That cut off any chance of us being together. I know what it's like to be kicked away from your family. And I don't want this to happen to you. If your parents found out that you still wanted to be with me, if you and I were....they would disown you. I'm not worth all of that."
Thamus stared at Heidi before looking above/behind her, squinting slightly. "Thamus? Are you even listen-" Heidi snapped before Thamus suddenly turned her, pointing at the three people, walking down the road. Heidi immediately got a bad feeling in her gut, seeing their weapons and the colors they were wearing.
"Romans....?" Heidi whispered.
"C'mon, let's go get the gua-" Thamus went to take her hand and pull her off but Heidi took off running.
Thamus sighed and after her, hiding behind a pillar, ready to stand in if needed. As smart as Heidi was, she tended not to think of consequences, or problems.
Heidi approached the two men. One was taller than the other, he looked like he was dangerous. He towered over Heidi by a good foot at least. He had dark hair and cold eyes with a hard expression. He was pale. Not like he was sick, but like it was natural for him. The other boy had red curly hair. He was slightly shorter than the other.
Heidi walked through the two boys, listening carefully. "-yes, I am sure Prince William is in this kingdom." The dark haired one was saying. Heidi stopped slightly to listen closer. That was her first mistake. The two boys seemed to notice her.
The red head grabbed Heidi by the collar of her chiton, throwing her up against the pillar. "Looks like we have a listener," he pressed himself against her, making her whimper.
"A pretty one at that," the other one grabbed a fistful of Heidi's hair, jerking her head up so she would look him in the face. Heidi stared up at the boys, breathing heavily. Shaking.
Thamus bit his lip before rushing over. He picked up an olive tree branch he found on the ground and wacked the red head with it. "Get away from her!"
Red head whirled around, whacking Thamus in the jaw, sending him crashing to the ground.
"THAMUS!" Heidi dove forward to help him but the dark haired boy grabbed her, quite literally throwing her backwards. Heidi's back smacked the pillar with a sickening crack, sending her collapsing to the ground, unconscious.
Thamus groaned, trying to sit up and get to her, but the pain spreading through the side of his face was too much. Why the Hades was nobody helping them?! Thamus felt himself being lifted and thrown somewhere. He squeezed his eyes shut, not caring to open them. He felt Heidi being thrown against him, then the sound of something sliding shut and locking.
That's when Thamus opened his eyes and looked to Heidi, crumbled beside him, the back of her head a bloody mess. She was whimpering slightly, causing Thamus to pick her up and hold her close.
Darkness seemed to surround them. Thamus didn't know where they were, or why they were there. He just knew one thing.
They had been kidnapped.
