"Are you okay, (Y/N)?" Farlen asked, jumping down next to you.

"Yeah." You smiled. "I feel much better now."

"Of course you do, you're sitting in the light, after all." A voice said, jumping down next to you. "I told you, didn't I? Sunlight makes you heal faster."

"Then I should just sleep here." You said, laying down on the soft green grass.

This place was a special place that he had found, where there was a large opening that let sunlight in from the world above. The world above, where you could feel the sunlight anywhere you wanted, as long as you were outside. That sounded like heaven.

If the world above was heaven, then surely the sewers of the Underground that you called your home was hell.

"Tired?" Levi asked as he stopped next to you on the battered roof of a market.

You were panting. Using 3D maneuver gear was never really your thing, despite your cousin Isabel being a prodigy at it.

"I-I'm fine." You wheezed, your body hunched over, supporting yourself by putting your hands on your knees. "You should go catch up with Farlen and Isabel."

Levi grunted, and you expected him to leave, when all of a sudden you felt yourself being lifted off the ground.

"Hey! Put me down!" You squeaked in surprise. "I'm gonna drag you down!"

"Bullshit." Levi said. "You think I'm that weak to be dragged down by some girl and some bits of metal?"

You huffed, but couldn't stop the corners of your mouth from lifting.

He carried you through the damp air of the Underground in silence for a few minutes. "Hey, (Y/N)." He said lowly. "Are you actually okay? It feels like you weigh way less than a cat does."

"I'm fine! Didn't I sit in the sunlight for, like, eighty hours?" You insisted.

Levi didn't respond, instead continuing to fly on the 3D maneuver gear in silence until he caught up with Isabel and Farlen.

"Aww, aneki! Rock a by aneki, on the tree top..." Isabel teased.

"Levi? Do you want to switch?" Farlen offered, and Levi shook his head, instead bringing you closer to him.

"I'm fine." He said, before jumping ahead.

You clutched onto his shirt. "Levi..." You said softly, so that Isabel and Farlen couldn't hear. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" He asked, not looking down at you.

"For being a burden."

"Listen." He said. "You're not a burden, alright? Don't think like that. You don't have to be scared, you don't have to worry, 'cause I'll protect you, okay?"

"Promise?" You asked in a small voice.

He looked down at you, and there was a comforting look in his eyes.

"I promise."
