Forsaken {Book 1}

IV: Departures

Fugaku, Mikoto, and Itachi all sat at the table waiting.  It was early in the morning and they were waiting for Sasuke to come down for breakfast. 

"Why don't you go check on him Itachi?" Mikoto asked.  Itachi nodded and stood from his seat and began to walk to his little brothers room. It was unusual for Sasuke to be late in the mornings. There were the days when he didn't feel good, or when he just didn't want to get out of bed, but Itachi knew something was up. Sasuke came home acting weird last night.

Itachi walked down the hall and grabbed the knob on Sasuke's door and turned it, pushing the door open. His eyes quickly scanned the room. Sasuke was gone. He activated his sharingan and immediately noticed that Sasuke's travel backpack, which Sasuke used for missions, wasn't hanging up on his closet door where it always hung. Itachi rushed downstairs to his parents.

"Itachi? Is Sasuke coming." Fugaku asked.

"Sasuke's not in his room." Itachi stated. "And his mission backpack is gone as well."

$&$& 12 Hours Earlier $&$&

"What do you mean?" Sasuke asked quickly.  Both him and Naruto looked at their female teammate shocked at her outburst.  Sure she had a temper, but this wasn't expected at all.

"I said I'm done with it.  I'm done with all this crap and I'm not going to deal with it anymore.  I don't know how you two handle it."

"Sakura," Sasuke started but paused.  "What are you going to do?"  Sakura turned so her back was facing them.

"Don't tell me you two haven't once contemplated leaving the village." She said causing Naruto to gasp.

"Leave the village?" He nearly shouted.  "If we do that then they'll mark us as rouge shinobi!"  Sakura rolled her eyes.

"You know they won't.  They can't unless we do something to harm the village or harm a leaf shinobi.  We can leave and live outside of the village.  That way we won't have to deal with our problems.  Just like the three sannin did!" Sakura exclaimed turning around to see their reactions.  Naruto gave a puzzled look while rubbing his chin.

"Who are the three sannins?" He asked causing both Sasuke and Sakura to fall over while sweat dropping.

"You've never heard of Tsunade, Jiraiya, or Orochimaru?" Sasuke asked and Naruto shook his head. "Man you really are a dobe."

"HEY!" Naruto shouted.

"ANYWAYS, Naruto, the three sannin were trained under the Third Hokage, but they left the village years ago and now they live in a minor village that doesn't have a ninja system. They aren't considered rouge because they haven't caused harm to the Leaf Village, so they aren't hunted down." Sakura explained.

"So you're gonna leave the village?" Naruto asked sadly, and Sakura gave him a determined look.

"What's the point in staying. I love my parents, honestly I do, but I can't stay here with them. I.....I just can't do it anymore. I'm gonna leave, and you guys can either come with me.......or you can stay here. Your choice."

$&$& 2 hours later $&$&

Sasuke and Naruto both waited until their parents fell asleep before making their way towards the village gate where they saw their female teammate waiting. Sakura looked over at them for a second before looking back up at the night sky.

"So you guys decided to come." Sakura mumbled. Honestly she didn't expect either of them to come with her. They both had families that loved them, well besides Sasuke's father who was going to send him away.

"You really think we'd let you leave by yourself Sakura? C'mon you know us better than that!" Naruto said. Sasuke nodded.

"You know how the saying goes. It may be true that those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum. We're not gonna sit here and let you do this alone." Sasuke stated. Sakura gave the two a smile.

"Well then follow me." She said, and they jumped off. Naruto couldn't help but grin.

"Dobe, what's up with that creepy grin?" Sasuke asked. Naruto gave him a glare before answering.

"I can't help it! This is exciting! My first time leaving the village without a mission. Don't you feel that way?" He exclaimed. Sakura rolled her eyes.

"Naruto, Sasuke can't feel that way remember? His Uchiha traits won't let him. Just like his traits wouldn't let him have better looking hair." Sakura stated matter of factly. Sasuke glared at both of them.

"Tch, where are we even going anyway?" He asked.

"Oh! We're going to my aunt and uncles house! They live in a secluded mountainside north of here, and their home is covered by a well made genjutsu." Sakura claimed.

"Huh? But why would they live all the way out there?" Naruto questioned.

"They did what we're doing now Naruto. They left because they didn't want to be confined in a village doing ninja duties and all that. Aunt Yuri and Uncle Tekoto love company, and their daughter, Yuki, is the sweetest." Sakura explained.

"Hn, dobe."

"Whaddya call me you teme!"

Sakura sighed.

$&$& Present Time $&$&

Minato sat in his office running a hand through his hair. Not only was his son gone, but Sakura and Sasuke weren't sighted anywhere in the village either.  Kushina had been the first one to began searching the village.  He was currently waiting on some people to come so he could assign them the mission of searching for the three kids on team seven. 

Maybe the three kids were hiding.  Worst case scenario Naruto was taken for the kyuubi, Sasuke for the sharingan, and Sakura would be the bait that led them to their capturer.  No.  Minato shook his head.  There was no way that would happen.  The villages were all on good terms with each other.  Nobody has claimed that they were gonna be the next bad guy like Madara was. He sighed in frustration.

The door opened and in came Kakashi, and Team Eight.

"You guys have been assigned a mission. Find Team Seven."

$&$& Elsewhere $&$&

Naruto panted, exhausted.

"Can we take a break? I'm exhausted!" He exclaimed. Sakura sighed, she and Sasuke were tired too but they kept pushing on. Okay well Sasuke was to arrogant to even give the slightest suggestion that he was tired.

"Naruto, we're almost there. We're just a couple minutes away. Once we get there my aunt will let us sleep in one of her spare rooms." Sakura groaned. The group kept jumping from tree to tree till Sakura suddenly stopped. Naruto immediately sat down on the ground and Sasuke just leaned against a tree.

"Are we here?" Sasuke asked. Sakura shook her head.

"We still have to get through the genjutsu, then we have to climb up to the house. The genjutsu is right here." Sasuke activated his Sharingan, but didn't see anything.

"How can you see the genjutsu?" He asked. Sakura looked at him and smirked.

"My aunt specializes in genjutsu and made this one specifically for me and a few more select people to see." Sakura said proudly. "Kai." The air rippled and suddenly a house on the mountain was visible. Naruto looked at the house and looked at Sakura almost pleadingly.

"Please tell me we don't have to climb all the way up there." Sakura pursed her lips and gave Naruto an amused look.

"Sorry Naruto, but do you see any other house here?"

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO"
