VI: Letter of Assurance

Sasuke was the first to wake up, though he usually woke up early every morning. He didn't do it purposely, it was a habit that his father drilled into his head.

His father.

Sasuke wondered about how they were doing. Konoha. His brother. His mom. He never really thought about them on his way here. He was too caught up in the excitement of getting out of an arranged marriage. 

He thought it was weird.  He didn't feel the slightest bit upset.  He felt more free.  Now he understood why Sakura's Aunt and Uncle moved out here.  It was quiet, peaceful, and-

"HEY SASUKE!  YOU'RE AWAKE!" 

Never mind.

Sasuke sighed and looked over at Naruto who was on the floor.

"Dobe.  Be quiet!  Sakura's still asleep!"  Sasuke hissed.  Naruto took in his surrounding. 

"I forgot we weren't in Konoha anymore."  He scratched the back of his head sheepishly.  Sasuke face palmed and shook his head.

"This is why you're the dobe." He mumbled. Naruto glared but stopped when his stomach growled.

"He he he." He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"Come on dobe. I heard Sakura's aunt get some pots out when I first woke up, let's go see if she's making breakfast."

"There have been no traces of the three whatsoever. They have completely disappeared." An ANBU member told the family. Mikoto sighed dejectedly.

"Alright." The ANBU nodded before disappearing. Mikoto walked into the kitchen and begun to make breakfast. She noticed the changes immediately. The house was more quiet without Sasuke. Even though Sasuke wasn't much of a talker he still enjoyed talking to his mother. Sasuke would always stomp around in the morning, he never even bothered to monitor his sound level. 

Fugaku and Itachi made there way down stairs and sat at the table waiting for the food to be served.  Itachi didn't look very well.  His hair was messy and his face said it all.  He was worried for his little otouto.

"Has the Hokage found anything about their disappearance yet?" Fugaku asked.  Mikoto looked at him sadly.

"An ANBU came.  He said there was no trace of the three." She said sadly.  Fugaku let out a low whistle.

"Princess Karin is gonna be pissed."

Mikoto couldn't help but give Fugaku a harsh look.  Itachi glared at his father not caring about the possible consequences in the future.

"Sasuke's gone and all you care about is that?" Itachi asked in a low voice.

"So how long have you two been friends with Sakura-chan?" Sakura's aunt asked as she set plates on the table in front of the two boys. 

"We've known Sakura since we were about seven but we didn't really began talking to her until we were nine.  So maybe about four years." Naruto answered.  Sasuke snorted.

"Good job dobe, you can add."  Naruto glared at him. Yuri shook her head smiling. "

I don't know how Sakura-chan deals with you two and your constant bickering." Both Naruto and Sasuke unconsciously put their head on the back of their head. "Setting that subject aside, I would like to know why you two left Konoha.

And so Naruto and Sasuke began explaining.

Itachi stormed out of the house away from his momentarily shocked father. He relaxed a little when he reached the exit of the Uchiha compound, and made his way to the Hokage tower.

"Lord Hokage." Itachi greeted bowing. Minato looked at him before sighing.

"I figured you come up here sometime soon Itachi. It's about Sasuke I'm assuming?" Itachi nodded.

"I would like to go search for him myself." Itachi stated and Minato looked down at his desk.

"I'm sorry Itachi but I can't send you out there. The team I sent found no traces of the three. I would love to go myself and look for Naruto but I can't. I'm the Hokage and I have to look over Konoha." Minato explained. "Again, I'm sorry Itachi but if we find anything I'll make sure to tell you about what we get immediately."

Itachi nodded before disappearing and heading to the training grounds.

Sakura woke up to laughter and immediately knew it was Naruto. He's always so lou-

Wait is that Aunt Yuri too?  Sakura sat up in the bed and glanced around the room.  The their bed was empty and the sheets were pulled back.  She quickly got up and made the two beds before grabbing a clean set of clothes and heading to the bathroom to change.  After quickly changing and fixing her hair Sakura headed downstairs to the kitchen.  When she entered the room she saw Naruto, Sasuke, and Aunt Yuri sitting at the table.

"Good morning Sakura-chan!  Come have breakfast with us!  Naruto and Sasuke were telling me stories about your team!"  Sakura looked at the two boys and sat down.

"Did they tell you about the time when they kissed?"  Naruto's and Sasuke's eyes went wide.  "By their reaction I'm assuming they didn't.  Well it went like this....."

After telling a few more stories a man came into the room.  The man was tall and he had blonde hair.  He wore a black t-shirt and long brown pants, and he had two katanas on his back. 

"Ah Tekoto-kun, you're back!" Yuri exclaimed. 

"Sorry I took so long Yuri.  I didn't want to be seen by these leaf ninja that came by."  The three genin went stiff.  "Anyways I got the wood and put it out behind the house and who are they?" He said pointing to Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto. 

"Tekoto!  Do you not recognize your niece?" Yuri asked just a little surprised.  Tekoto looked at Sakura and narrowed his eyes before smiling.

"Do my eyes deceive me?  You've grown a lot Sakura."  Then he turned to Naruto and Sasuke.  "Who are these two?" 

"This is Naruto and this is Sasuke.  They're on my genin team."

"Huh?  Then why are you guys here?"

Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto explained everything to Tekoto while they finished their food.  Tekoto looked at the three sitting across from them.

"Shouldn't you write a letter?" He asked.

"Eh?" Naruto, being the loud one, questioned.  "WHY WOULD WE. DO THAT?" Only to receive a punch on his head from Sakura.

"IDIOT!  Don't be so loud!" 

"Your family might be worried about you, and like you said Naruto, you're the Hokage's son.  He's gonna be worried about you and he might not be able to do his work and when the Hokage can't do his work then the village isn't in a good shape."  Tekoto explained.

"Eh alright!  Let's write a letter!" Naruto said pumping his fist into the air.

A/N: Another update finally going up.  I'm going to TRY to get another chapter up during winter break, so maybe about two more weeks???
