Meeting for the First Time Pt. 2

Jasmines POV:

Today was the day. Today I'd be auditioning for Hamilton. This was my last chance at getting in. My first audition didn't go as planned- I messed up twice. That's why this one had to be perfect. I needed everything to go well.

I kept repeating Anthony's words in my head. He was right, I couldn't throw away my shot.

I listened to my audition song over and over again on the train.

My parents sent me good luck texts and I felt a little less nervous.

When I got to my stop I got out and walked up the stairs to the streets. I walked about a block before reaching the theatre. I took in a deep breath then entered. There sat a bunch of other girls, all with the intentions of being in this musical. I couldn't help but feel intimidated. I signed in and they told me to have a seat.

It felt like hours waiting there. I saw some girls come out beaming and others in tears.

"Jasmine Cephas Jones." A lady called my name and the butterflies in my stomach felt like they were multiplying. I had to do my best.

I walked into the room and my nerves sided a bit.

I got out of my audition and felt pretty okay. I was in there for a while. They taught me the first half of Say No To This and then had me hitting all kinds of notes to see if my range was good enough.

After that Alex wrote down Peggy's parts on a piece of paper and taught me the melody. It was like a mini workshop inside of an audition. Those were my favourites.

I felt pretty okay but tried not to get ahead of myself. There were still a few more girls that had to audition after me.

At this point there was nothing more I could do. It was all up to them now.

Anthony's POV:

We were in the middle of rehearsals when Lin got a call.

"It's Lac!" He announced. We all got quiet and Lin put the phone on speaker as we gathered around.

"Lac, give us the news man!" Lin said overly excited. Auditions would have ended a few hours ago and that should have given them enough time to decide.

"After many, many auditions we've narrowed it down to one girl." Lac said. We all cheered happy to finally fill the Peggy/Maria character that had been missing. In my heart I knew who it would be.

"She's amazing. She's kind and funny and beautiful. She's everything we need in those two characters. She's gonna fit in great." Alex said creating suspension. Jasmine was kind, and funny and beautiful.

"Common spill it, we can't wait any longer." Lin said like a hyperactive child.

"Alright." Lac said pausing,"Her name is Jasmine Cephas Jones, we're about to call her and let her know. We're going to aim to get her into rehearsals tomorrow morning."

Everyone was excited. I couldn't help but be happy for her. I knew she was going to do great.

"Sounds great." Lin said. They said goodbye on both ends and hung up.

"I found her." Pippa said holding up her phone open on Instagram. She wasn't trying to be creepy, just curious.

"Let me see." Oak said and then a bunch of the guys were surrounding him.

"Lac wasn't lying when he said she was beautiful." Oak said and the guys around him agreed.

"I need you to all to stay focused. Don't scare the girl off before we even get her in the door." Lin said taking the phone out of their hands and returning it back to Pippa. I was thankful for that. It felt weird knowing that all these other guys found her attractive. Obviously I wouldn't be the only one but Jasmine, she made me feel some type of way.
