Here you go, sorry I know I'm a couple days late getting this posted.  Enjoy.

Angelic closed her eyes as she clutched her stomach and grimaced.  The ache only lasted a moment and then it disappeared.  Her eyes opened to Trey’s worried expression as he repeatedly asked if she was alright.  With the pain diminished she realized that it had been a false alarm.  She smiled and nodded her head as she alerted him she was okay.

“Are you sure, Ange?  Can I get you something or maybe you want to sit down?” he asked and she could see that he was very panicky.

“Trey I’m fine, really.  Just a false contraction, I’ve been experiencing them for a while now,” she explained.

“Oh I see.  Well it seems I have missed out on a lot,” he said regretfully.  He wondered what all she had experienced that he was unaware of; he knew he only had himself to blame.

She could see the regret pasted all over his face.  “Trey look we can’t change the past so why not look forward toward the future.  I’m here and I’m trying and that’s what matters most right?” she asked as she took his hands and placed them on her stomach.  As soon as he touched her rounded belly he felt his son’s strong kick.

He laughed, “Oh wow do you feel that all day long?” he asked very enthusiastic.

“Just about, our boy is very energetic,” she said right before a frown appeared upon her face.

“What’s wrong?”

“Umm…I have a little heartburn and this weird pain just swept down my back.  It’s killing me,” she winced.

“Oh, let me get some antacids for you and you need to get off your feet.  C’mon, go lay down for a moment.  How about I make you a cup of hot tea?”

“Yeah that sounds really nice,” she said as she allowed him to steer her to the bedroom to rest.  He retrieved the chewable heartburn tablets from the bathroom medicine cabinet before went down to the kitchen.

Lately she had taken to jot down notes so that she would not forget to discuss things at her doctor’s appointment.  She opened up the nightstand drawer for she usually had kept pens and a note pad there.  Right on top sat a pink envelope addressed to Trey.  She didn’t want to pry but curiosity got the best of her.  He had read it because the flap was tucked inside.  It was a note from Bryn, Amanda’s sister… she started to read it.

My Dearest Trey,

I hope I have timed this perfectly.  If you check your phone this morning you will find that my sister has left you a message.  Please don’t be upset with Amanda.  She only kept it from you because I asked her too.  I wanted to get my bearings together before we spoke.  I’m still trying to accept that I have been in a coma all of these years.  Had it not been for the care that you both gave me as well as all of the wonderful medical staff you had watch over and care for me, who knows how the outcome might have turned out.

You are my very best friend and I’m happy that you have found love with Angelic.  Amanda explained everything to me and I know she made plenty mistakes in that area but I so see a big change in my sister.  I know I have you to thank for that.  I also know about your soon to be born son, congratulations.  I say that genuinely with love.

I also want you to know that I want you to be free without guilt about naming your child after you.  Amanda expressed that she told you I would want you to make the corrections and she was correct.  In this situation I think it’s only proper that you get your firstborn namesake.  I’m sure our boy would have been such a carbon copy of you but fate stood in the way of that and I have no regrets.  I’m awaiting your call.  Love Bryn

Angelic had to go back and reread that last part again, ‘I’m sure our boy would have been such a carbon copy of you but fate stood in the way of that.’  She started to feel lightheaded and quite frankly she was in shock.

‘No no, no, no, no.  They had a child together, a son that was conceived but never born,’ she thought as she tried to make sense of this newfound information.  ‘What the fuck!’ the inside of her head screamed.

Angelic dropped the letter to the floor as she sat up.  She didn’t want to be anywhere in his vicinity.  Hurt and betrayed was only the top of the crop for what she felt.  Her back hurt her more and the pain that she felt prior was back again and held longer.  She rubbed her stomach as she willed it to go away.  She slid on the shoes that she had kicked off before she got on the bed.

He had brought her here but she didn’t care she would walk if she had too.  She heard the tea kettle whistle as she came down the stairs.  Her eyes caught sight of his car keys that sat on the table near the front door.  She briskly walked over to retrieve it and without warning bowed forward from an intense spasm.

‘It can’t be a contraction it just can’t be, not now baby.  Please hold on just a little bit longer,’ she thought to herself.  She tried to take a step but the pain was intense and she held onto the table for support.  She took deep breaths in and out until it died down.  She heard Trey from the kitchen and hurried into the family room to get out of sight.  When he got to the top of the steps she quickly rushed out to the car.

As soon as he stepped into the bedroom and saw the note on the floor he knew right away why Angelic was not where he had left her.  He sat the cup down and quickly ran to the front door.  She was in the car and had started to back up to turn around.  He sprinted toward her and yelled for to stop and let him explain.

Nothing that he could say would make a difference, not now, not anymore.  Her eyes were blinded by large tears that flowed uncontrollably.  Her foot forced down hard on the gas pedal and the car screeched down the driveway.  She wanted to get as far away as possible and never come back.  Her view was obstructed by a delivery truck that sat parked by the entrance.  When she flew out and made a sharp left hand turn she never saw the vehicle that approached on her blind side.  A SUV slammed straight into the passenger’s side door.

The impact was forceful and the sound of crushed metal was mind-boggling.  The medium sized car that she drove was all banged up and the car spun until it struck a nearby light pole causing it to finally halt.  The pole was now sandwiched in between the rear door behind the driver.  Everything had happened so fast and Trey ran as rapidly as he could to reach her.  Neighbors who were home and heard the collision came out to see if they could help.  He heard someone yell that the paramedics were on the way.

He couldn’t think and could barely breathe as a wave of fright rushed through him.  Angelic and his baby were in there and he had to get them out.  The car was badly damaged and all the doors were compressed and couldn’t be opened.

She was unconscious and blood dripped from her forehead.  He screamed her name and a neighbor had to hold him back from doing more harm than good as he desperately tried to rescue her.  A crowd along the block stood outside as the blaring siren of the ambulance neared.

‘Please god let them be okay!’ he prayed silently to himself as he repeated it over and over.
