Chapter 30

“Oh my goodness Angelic, look at you.”  It was her mother-in-law Terri who warmly greeted her at the door.

“Honey come on in, I’m so glad to see you,” she said as she looked behind Angelic in search of her son.

“Where’s Trey, don’t tell me he working?”  Angelic shook her head as big tear drops fell from her eyes.

“Angelic, what wrong?” Terry asked as she embraced her in a tight hug.

Angelic grabbed the bottom of her stomach and winced, “I need to sit down.”

“Come on let's go into the living room.”  Terri wrapped her arm around Angelic’s expanded waist and ushered her to the sofa.

The room had family pictures all over the newly painted walls.  She could still smell the aroma that lingered.  It had been a while since she had visited but everything felt very warm and looked attractive.  Terri had Angelic's put her feet up on the couch and then pulled over a chair.

“Braxton Hicks dear?” Terri asked as she sat down.

“Yeah, I feel better now, thanks.”

“You're very welcome sweetheart but I'm still concerned about what's going on with you and Trey.  I don’t want to pry Angelic, but under the circumstances, I think you're here because you needed someone to confide in.”

“Mom,” Angelic hesitated for a moment as she looked down at the floor.  “I came in early to surprise Trey this morning and found him in bed with a woman.”

“What!”

“You have no idea how much pain you can be in until something like this actually happens to you.”

“Oh, baby, I’m so sorry,” she said as she reached over and hugged Angelic.

Angelic pulled away.  “No mom, you don't want to hug me.  He touched me and grabbed me; all of that after he's been with her.  I feel dirty and contaminated,”

Terry stared at Angelic for a moment with a sense of how her daughter-in-law must have felt as she came upon that situation.  “C'mon, follow me.  I can't fix what has been done but I can help you take away a little of the bad.”  Angelic was confused by what Terry meant, but any comfort to remove the heavy weight off her pained heart was welcomed.

When Frank returned from his walk, Terri was seated at their modest little kitchen table with a cup of tea.  Frank could see that something was wrong by the worry lines on her brow.  He went over and sat down with her.  She immediately got him up to speed on what had transpired in his absence.

“Well I guess that explains Trey's phone call to me.  He's on his way over now.”

“Frank, I'm not going let him come here upsetting her.  That's the last thing that poor girl needs right now.  I really need you to back me on this.”

“Of course I couldn't agree with you more.”

“Thanks babe.   I'm worried about her and the last thing we need is for her to go into premature labor due to this whole mess.”

“Don't worry, I'll talk with Trey when he arrives, I promise,” Franks said as he got up and kissed Terri on her forehead before he headed out the kitchen.

About twenty minutes later the door bell rung.  Frank answered the door and led his son into the living room to talk.  While Frank chatted with Trey, Terri went upstairs to check on Angelic.  About half hour later she returned downstairs to join in on the conversation.
