Lexa's PoV:
I can't describe the relief I felt when we climbed onto a horse. Octavia was surprisingly good at riding horses, and managed to ride the horse with me in front of her. I really did like Octavia.

"You okay?" she asked when we were about half way there.
"Yeah," I replied. I had a smile on my face, but she couldn't see it.
"We're almost at Polis," Lincoln turned around on his horse and smiled.
"Thank god," I sighed. My whole body ached by now.

Sure enough, about five minutes later, we arrived at the long road that led into the centre of Polis.

And that's when I saw her.

Clarke's PoV:
What the hell?! I heard Ontari bring out a gun, but the bullet must've missed me...and hit her? I was so confused.
Until I saw two boys stagger out from behind the bushes. Ah. Monty and Jasper.

"Hey, Clarke," Jasper grinned his goofy smile.
"Oh my god!" I gaped. "You literally just saved my life!"
"YEAH BUT YOU INJURED ME!" Ontari's voice screeched. She'd been shot in the arm and to add to that she'd fallen off her horse onto the same arm. "FUCK!"
"Serves you right for trying to shoot Clarke," Monty pointed out.
"Ugh!" Ontari screamed. "I'm going to be your new Commander soon, and when that happens you're DEAD!"

That hit us as hard as a speeding car.

Ontari was going to be Commander?!

Then it suddenly dawned on me. She'd lied about Lexa so that I'd leave the search party. That's one less person looking for her. And she wanted Murphy to go too. She was planning on making herself Commander.

"You're not going to be Commander," I laughed at her.
"Yeah," Monty agreed, "everyone will overthrow you."
"And the likelihood is you'll be killed before any of us," Jasper grinned.
"SHUT UP!" she screamed again. She seemed to like her screaming.

I was about to say more when I heard the sounds of many horses' hooves clopping on the path. I looked up from Ontari to see Octavia, Lexa, Lincoln, Bellamy, Murphy, Raven, Indra and Titus. I had never pictured Titus as a horse rider. Now I had. And it wasn't pretty.

"Ugh, what's this, Clarke's backup?" Ontari rolled her eyes.
"No, but we're her friends," Lexa said defensively. Octavia raised her eyebrows and looked amused at Lexa's words. The others, except for Titus, just nodded.

"Hey Commander," Jasper grinned at Lexa.
"She's wounded," Indra said. "We need to get her to a healer."
"I'm a doctor," I said suddenly. I'd been training to be one, and had almost finished my apprenticeship when shit broke out and Octavia, Bellamy, Raven and I were banished here.

"Oh yeah, I forgot," Raven nodded. I rolled my eyes.
"What about you guys, Bellamy? Octavia? Murphy?" I glared.
"Hey okay I'm not even your friend," Murphy held out his hand in protest. "You're just the privileged kid who rebelled."
"Shut up Murphy," Octavia rolled her eyes.
"Bellamy?" I inquired, glaring at him.
"Well, I didn't know where you were, or what you'd gotten yourself into," he sighed. "You might not even have been able to heal Lexa."

That was a fair point actually.

"Octavia?" I raised my eyebrows at her finally.
"I had my reasons," she smirked, looking at Lexa yet again. What was that?

"Well can somebody heal me?" Ontari moaned. "Monty shot me!"
"You deserved it," Monty said. Jasper nodded in agreement.
"Guys," Lexa groaned. "Just chuck her a bandage. She can walk with us."
"What?!" Monty, Jasper, Murphy and I screamed in unison.
"She's evil!" Murphy exclaimed.
"So are you," Octavia raised her eyebrows at him.
"Octavia," Bellamy said sternly. His little sister just rolled her eyes. I was surprised Octavia's eyes hadn't rolled right out of her sockets given how often she rolled them.

"EN PLENI!" Lexa cried in exhaustion. I recognised the language as Trigedasleng, a language native to Polis. However, we had no idea what it meant.
"Come again?" Raven looked at Octavia.
"She said 'enough'," Ontari rolled her eyes. "Seriously that's an easy phrase."
"Shut up Ontari," Lincoln glared at her. "They're from Arkadia."
"Yes, they are," Ontari said immediately after. "So why the hell do you trust them?"
"They've proved trustworthy," Lexa glared at her too.
"What, even little blondie here?" Ontari snorted. I could've slapped her. Little blondie? How dare she.
"Clarke," Lexa glared at her, "and yes, even her."
I was shocked. Lexa was standing up for me?
"Well," Ontati folded her arms as she managed to push herself up, "I believe the question remains, who's Commander?"
"Lexa is," Raven glared at Ontari.
I looked at Lexa, but she suddenly looked panicked.
"Yeah right," Ontari snorted. "Lexa is weak. It's why she's yet to claim the position."
"You know what Ontari, I'm so done with your crap," Lexa looked at her. "You can become Commander, because my friends and I are leaving Polis. I'll notify the twelve clans."

Ontati looked stunned. Clearly she had thought she'd have to put up much more of a fight.

"Let's go then," Ontari said, and jumped on the back of my horse.

Monty and Jasper had personally decided that they were our new best friends and had stolen some poor man's horse and riding it rampant.

There was silence all the way to Polis Capital. Nobody said a word, but there wasn't anything to say.
We marched in silence all the way to the top of the Polis Tower where Lexa took her seat at the throne, digital broadcasting equipment set up in front of her.

"Lexa wait," I said suddenly. I couldn't let her put Ontari in charge.
"It's okay Clarke," she smiled at me. "I know what I'm doing."
"If you're sure," I said warily. It was true, Lexa knew way more about Polis than I did. Maybe she had a plan? I had a bad feeling she didn't though.

"People of Polis," Lexa announced. The broadcast had started. "As you may know, Polis has not had a Commander in almost three years. But now we do. I am here to announce that Ontari Snow will be taking the position. Ontari, if you will."
Ontari came and stepped into place.
"Hello my people," she smiled grandly. "I am your new Commander. And as of today, I'm creating new rules. My first rule? Lexa, Lincoln, Indra, Jasper Monty and anyone else who has aided the Arkadians will be banished from Polis. They may build a new civilisation in the outskirts in the forests, or they can leave our land completely."
Lexa gasped, and I helped her and grabbed her out of view. She still couldn't walk. "And as for the Arkadians who plague our land? They are sentenced to death. Marcus Kane will be the one to carry this out. Goodbye."
Ontari stood up and turned off the equipment.
"Well?" she demanded. "I suggest you get going. And Clarke? You're gonna be the first to die."

This could not be happening.
