Dear Diary,
So, our newest addition to the DADA teaching staff is a pig. Her name: Umbridge. Absolutely no one likes her. She makes us WRITE all class long. All about theories and such; it's damn boring if you ask me...
I closed my diary and looked around the classroom. Everyone was copying lines from the book and I sat there, my leg bouncing; I needed to move, just a little. But a little is never enough for me. Before long, I was drumming my knuckles on the wood desk, the knocking noise echoing through the whole classroom.
"Miss Nadine, stop that this instant!" Umbridge growled.
"Sorry," I mumbled. But, sooner rather than later I started knocking again.
"Kendra!" Frankie hissed. "Stop! You'll get detention!"
I nodded, and tried to focus on my work, but today, it seemed impossible. So, I started drawing. It started out as a simple picture of my cat, Evermore. But about ten minutes later, it escalated to a pictures of bad things happening to people I didn't care for.
I was working on a picture of Umbridge getting attacked by a herd of pixies, when, Professor Umbridge just so happened to stroll on by. She took the piece of paper from me.
"Is this me?" She asked loud enough for everyone to turn their head.
I paused for a few endless moments.
"Yeah, it's you, but really the pixies are not attacking you; they are just having a... party. Yeah, A party with you."
"Then am I bleeding and the Pixies have what? Swords?" Umbridge asked. I looked at her with the straightest face I could manage.
"The party is going VERY wrong." A few people snickered quietly.
Umbridge did not like that answer: "Detention, Miss Nadine. Saturday."
I nodded miserably, and pulled out my homework. Frankie turned around and gave me the 'I told you so' look. I glared and made a face back.
Since it was Friday, detention came the next day. That night I was too angry to even think about going to the DA, or supper for that matter. So I just went to bed.
The following morning at breakfast, Umbridge walked past me and tapped me firmly on the back; I stiffened and turned around to see her beckoning me on. I took a deep breath.
"She seems exited for detention...." I muttered to the girl sitting next to me.
Taking my time, I got up and walked to the DADA classroom and right up to the office, knocking on the door.
"Come in, dear!" A shrill voice called. I grumbled. That...woman, shouldn't be calling me 'dear'!
I opened the heavy door and walked into the horrid pink office. I couldn't help but make a face.
"Take a seat." Umbridge ordered gesturing to a chair in the middle of the room; I looked at her carefully, trying to read her face as I sat in the seat.
"You only have to sit here for ten minutes."
That's it?"
"That's it."
"Alright!" I said exitedly, this was going to be the easiest detention I had ever had.
"Ten minutes start now"
I leaned back in the seat, and started tapping my feet.
"Oh yes, I forgot, you can't make sounds or move ." My jaw dropped as the time was restarted.
Over and over again, I moved one way or another, and the time kept getting restarted. The sun had risen and fell before I had finished my ten minutes. I would never get detention again with Umbridge. Writing lines was nothing to this!
"You may go now" Umbridge told me. I hurried out of there, and went to the Ravenclaw common room. I ached everywhere, and never wanted to sit down again. I collapsed on a chair with a heavy moan, earning myself a few nasty glares.
"Sorry!" I mumbled half-heartedly. I had already missed the DA and my night was ruined. And to add to the list, Luna Lovegood came over and started talking to me. Luna was alright, just on the odd side, I usually avoided her unless I needed someone to talk to, and tonight wasn't one of those nights.
"Are you alright?" Luna asked.
"No. Never ever get into trouble with Umbridge." I warned, then headed off to bed.
