Jesse looked around his room at his aunt and uncle's house one last time. The sky blue walls looked so empty without his posters and pictures adorning them. But he had packed all that up a week ago, after he caught his girlfriend Brooke with his best friend. He still couldn't believe that he was stupid enough to believe Brooke a month ago when he asked her about it. Jesse flashed back to their conversation. He had just seen Brooke and Drew walking down the school hallway, and the two seemed a little too friendly. "Hey Brooke? I have a question for you." "What is it babe?" she had asked, sounding a little bit nervous. "There's no going on between you and Drew is there?" She had the saddest look on her face when she answered him. "No, and quite frankly, I'm a little hurt you would even think that! I love you Jesse James Hale. That will never change!" "Hey Jesse. You ready to go?" Jesse looked back at his room one last time, and turned to look at his uncle Chris. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be." Jesse looked out the truck window, but soon gave up. Every place he saw reminded him of Brooke, and he didn't feel like crying again. Especially with his uncle sitting right next to him. But as much as he tried, he couldn't hold the tears back anymore. He heard the truck stop, and his uncle wrapped him in a tight hug. "Why wasn't I good enough for her?" Jesse asked, sobbing uncontrollably at this point. He knew if his friends could see him, they would be picking on him for crying, but he didn't care. He was hurting. "You didn't do anything wrong, Jesse. You treated her like a queen. And if she wants to throw that away for a dumb jock who doesn't even know what state he lives in, let her. One day she will wake-up and realize what a terrible mistake she made. This is not your fault. This is entirely hers." Jesse looked up. Thanks uncle Chris, I really needed to hear that." "You're welcome. Now let's get you home to North Carolina."
