Chapter 26 Stranger

Daniel's POV

Emily fell asleep on my lap and Nolan was playing with Rebecca and Joshua. Charlotte came back holding baby Emily and Carl. She handed Carl to Jack and she sat down next to Nolan. She put Emily next to her cousins and they played. Emily stirred awake and her eyes fluttered open.

'Go back to sleep Ems.' I said stroking her head.

'Declan?" She asked yawning.

'He is still in surgery, I promise to wake you up when he does.' I said kissing her forehead. She the put her head back onto my lap and closed her eyes again.

'How is Ems mother doing with her chemotherapy and all?' Charlotte asked me.

'I'm not sure actually, Ems hasn't said anything so I assume they have not been keeping in touch.' I told her.

'oh, that's not like Ems.' She stated.

'I know, I think its because we have been so busy with the twins and making the perfect family that she has forgotten that her mother is suffering from cancer. It's good in a way, he mother did not want Emily to see her suffer and I guess she has gotten her way.' I said to Charlotte.

'I guess so.' She said.

-----three hours later-----

'Declan Porter's family?' The doctor behind us announced.

'Yes! That is us!' Jack jumped out of his seat.

'Okay please come with me.' The doctor beckoned.

I shook Emily awake and she got up and picked up the twins.

Emily's POV

'Morning Ems, how did you sleep?' Nolan asked sarcastically.

'Go away Nolan.' I joked giving Daniel Rebecca to hold.

'This way please.' The doctor instructed.

We walked into Delcan's room and he had pipes attached to him every where. He had not woken up yet but the doctor said that he should wake up in about twenty minutes. Jack was holding his hand and Charlotte put Emily next to him on the bed. Daniel and I sat on the couch and let the twins play around. Nolan stood by the door just staring at Declan's pale face.

We had been in the room for fifteen minutes, just sitting and waiting patiently in silence for him to wake up. Charlotte started talking to him and his eyes fluttered open.

'Charlotte, is that you?' He asked confused.

'Yes it is, and this is our baby girl Emily.' She said kissing his forehead. Jack had stepped back and let him meet his daughter.

'Hello Emily, I'm your Daddy!' He said smiling. She just smiled at him. 'Jack! So good to see you brother!' He said hugging him.

'You to brother. What its been more than a year, has it not?' Jack said smiling.

'It has! That monster kept me locked up, she never let me see the sun. She beat me until I was unconscious. She said that God punishes us for our sins, so I asked her what I did wrong and she said for impregnating you Charlotte. The day you came around and tried to get Victoria to accept the fact that you had a baby I could hear you, I heard you fighting with her. I just wanted to come up and protect you. The long torturous days before that, I had no idea that I was in Grayson Manor, until I heard your voice and I the knew. All I knew was that Victoria was holding me hostage and keeping me from my family!' Declan cried.

'Its okay Dec, you are out now and she has paid for what she has done. You are with your family now and that is all that matter right now!' Jack told him. I was mortified by what I heard. The fact that Victoria had the audacity to kidnap and keep a boy hostage for a year and pretend that he was dead disgusted me. I never knew Victoria was capable of doing another horrible thing to an Innocent man especially what she went through after my father was framed.
