A/N: I'm posting this for no other reason than I'm bored and don't want to write my other stories. Enjoy.
Dean and Cas sat at a small table in the tiny kitchen of a rundown motel somewhere in Oregon. Sam had left the day before, getting a head start back to the bunker while Dean and Cas wrapped up some research.
At 11:00 PM they were still awake, straining their eyes by reading over the same texts, hoping they could spot something different this time.
At about 11:30 Dean slammed his book shut loudly, causing Cas to jump at the sound.
"We aren't getting anywhere with this." Dean grunted, getting up and walking over to the small refrigerator and grabbing out a beer.
"There is something here, I know it." Cas said, sounding frustrated at their lack of progress.
Dean walked over and moved the book away from Cas, who looked at him with tired eyes.
"There has to be something here about getting my wings back." Dean stared at the ex-angel sadly, putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"We'll find something, but there isn't any sense in exhausting ourselves for no reason." Cas sighed and nodded. He walked over to the musty motel bed and sat down, Dean joining him.
Cas moved his eyes to Dean, looking lost and unhappy. Dean would do anything to wipe that sad look off of the angel's face.
"What am I going to do, Dean?" Cas ran a hand down his face, now feeling more frustrated than sad.
"If I can't get my powers back, there will be no way to defeat whatever evil shows itself next. I'm useless without my wings." Dean put a hand on Cas' cheek, turning him so Dean could hold his gaze.
"Don't talk like that. You will never be useless, not to me." Ml
Cas was the first one to initiate the kiss. So it was going to be one of those nights. Dean and Cas had this... thing going on. They weren't together, just a few nights here and there. It wasn't even really an arrangement, just something that happened.
Of course Sam didn't know about this, no way in hell would Dean ever tell his little brother he was gay, or bisexual, as Cas had told him many times.
Cas twisted his hands into Dean's hair and the kiss grew more heated. That is, until Dean put a hand on Cas' chest, pushing him away.
"We can't keep doing this." He said breathlessly. Cas changed his features into a pleading expression.
"One more night?" Dean sighed and got underneath the covers. Cas turned out the light and soon joined him, nuzzling into the back of Dean's neck.
"Goodnight Dean."
"Goodnight Angel."
