Dean stepped inside the elevator with a coffee in hand and was about to push the button to go to his floor when he heard someone shout, "Hold the door!"
Dean held the 'open door' button long enough for a blue eyed stranger to come running in. He gathered the papers in his arms into a neat pile and ran a hand over his head to smooth down his hair.
"What floor?" Dean asked.
"Hmm?" The stranger says, not really paying attention.
"What floor are you going to?"
"Oh! Number five." Dean smiled and pushed the button.
"Me too." The guy must be new. Dean has met everyone on the floor of his apartment and certainly doesn't remember this handsome stranger.
"Dean, by the way." He held his hand out, the one that wasn't holding scalding coffee, to the other man.
He smiled and shook Dean's hands. "Castiel."
The old rickety elevator started up and when it started it's assent the floor rocked, throwing Dean and his coffee onto Castiel. They both cried out, Dean in surprise and Castiel in pain. Dean fell onto Castiel from the sheer force of the shake.
"Oh! I am so sorry!" Dean exclaimed, accidentally pinning Castiel against the wall. He let up and stepped backwards to give Cas some space.
"That coffee was scalding! Take of your shirt and jacket!" He yelled, and Cas was quick to comply, stripping off his now stained dress shirt and suit jacket.
"I'm so sorry!" Dean said, cheeks burning bright with embarrassment. "Are you burned? Do you want me to check?" Castiel was looking down at his bare chest and Dean moved into his space, looking all over Castiel's chest for any lasting damage.
"It doesn't look too bad. You'll just need to take a bath or shower with cold water. A bath would probably be better." Dean says and looks up at the man's face. He's blushing too and only then does Dean realize how close they are.
"Um..." The elevator dings and the door opens to Dean's younger brother Sam, who laughs. Dean blushes harder and steps out of the elevator, followed closely by Castiel. They both look like they're doing the walk of shame.
Dean slips into his apartment, then sticks his head out the door and looks at Castiel, who's watching him expectantly.
"Uh, see you around I guess." Castiel smirks.
"I'm counting on it."
Short but eh.
