Chapter 5

"Vince," I said as I watched him walk towards me.

"Love, it's such a nice night don't you think?"

"The night is nice, but that doesn't mean I'm up to do anything," I rudely stated.

"But I haven't even asked love," he stated back.

"What are you doing here?" I asked feeling a bit annoyed. Hell, I just saw him this morning! I didn't think "later" would mean this soon.

"I came to ask a friend to grab some dinner," he said looking at me with hope.

"I've been working. We were short a few waiters tonight. I'm tired. I just want to go home," I said trying to sound as tired as I could be.

"Okay, okay. I'll see you, love. And remember, later might be sooner than you think," he said as he kissed my cheek.

Damn it! Why did he have to do that? Just the soft, quick peck on my cheek gave me chill bumps. Ignoring my lustful thoughts, I said bye to him and hurried to my car.

I drove home somewhat regretting that I didn't go out to dinner with him. I had to remind myself that it would never work so I might as well keep as much distance from him as I can.

Once I pulled into my driveway, I had officially decided that a warm, hot bath was calling my name. I deserved one, I thought.

I stripped down and stepped into my bathtub. The warm water felt so good I my tired feet. I relaxed, and I got out after about twenty minutes of soaking. I put on my favorite pink fuzzy pajamas and combed my hair. I then went into the living room, found something on the T.V. about cooking. Looking at all the food on the screen, I realized I was starving. Damn it. Now I have to fix something.

I got up and went to my freezer. A frozen dinner of mac n cheese called my name. Just as I was about to pop it in the microwave, my door bell rang.

"Great, can't a girl just relax? Isn't that what my friends what me to do?" I thought to myself.

Expecting it to be one of my idiotic friend who left me at the bar the other night with Vince, I opened the door and it certainly wasn't them.

"Vince!" I mumbled. "I thought I made myself clear."

"You did. I just brought you some food."

"Why?" I asked.

"Well Lauren, you've worked hard today. I can see that. You weren't up for going to grab some dinner, but I thought it would be a shame for you to have to cook tonight when it's already so late," he said.

"Thank you, but a frozen dinner of Mac n cheese awaits me," I said.

"Come on, Lauren. Just take it. I won't stay. I just wanted to make sure you ate something tonight. You did tell me that you lost yourself in work quite a lot, didn't you? Please, just take it. It's Chinese. I got a little of everything. Except sushi. Raw fish is a little personal, you know?"

I just stood there trying not to smile. He was rambling on and on just trying to convince me to take the good. He looks gorgeous tonight. He had on light colored jeans, brown shoes, and a dark grey v-neck that made his chest look even bigger, his arms even broader. God, he's amazing. Stop it, Lauren! Don't fall. Keep it cool.

"Thank you, Vince. I am starving and I really didn't want the Mac n cheese to be honest," I said. He handed me the bag. "You're welcome, love. Have a good night and get some well deserved rest," he said to me.

Feeling like a bitch for not inviting him in after he did something so sweet for me, I called out to him as he was walking down the steps.

"Wait. Do you want to come in?" I asked him.
