Chapter 9

When I woke up, I was in Vince's enormous bed. There was an ice pack placed on my head, and my hand had been bandaged up.

"Lauren," Vince said. "Are you alright? What happened? You must have a very weak stomach. Were you feeling well before you passed out?"

"I'm fine Vince," I assured him. "There's something I didn't tell you. Ever since the incident I had with those two guys, I can't take the sight of blood. I get queasy. I lost so much blood on that night, it just sort of makes me freak out when I see it. Especially on myself. I'm sorry I scared you."

"Love, don't apologize for something that you cannot help. You're perfect just the way you are," Vince said as he kissed me on the cheek.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him close to me. "Thank you," I said.

"For what?" He asked me.

"For just being you," I whispered in his ear.

I let go and looked him in the face and said, "I'm sorry that I ruined our dinner."

He grinned at me. Gosh he has the cutest dimples. "You didn't. I finished up while you were out. I had a friend of my mother's, who is a nurse, come out to check on you. When she said you would be up in a couple of hours, I continued to make your meal for you. I let her watch you while I cooked," he said to me sweetly.

"Thank you," I said as I kissed his cheek.

"Come on, love. Let's eat," he said to me as he lifted me up and carried me down to the dinning room where the most delicious meal I've ever laid eyes on was sitting.

"Wow, Vince. Thank you. This looks absolutely delicious," I said as he placed me down in a seat.

"Anything for my special lady," he said to me to me while grinning an adorable grin.

He sat across from me and we started eating. This was absolutely delicious. It was ravioli. It was by far the best I had ever had.

"So now that you're mine," Vince started. "I want to talk to you about something. I have to go on business for a few days to New York for my father's law company. I'll be gone for ten days. I leave tomorrow."

Damn it. We just got together, and now he's leaving me. "It's only ten days," I told myself. "Chill out, Lauren don't get stressed."

"I want you to come with me, Lauren. I want to show you the sites and take you places," he said while taking my hand into his.

"You mean, stay away from this place and my restaurant for ten days? Won't your family think I'm crazy since we just met? I don't want them to think I'm a slut or anything," I said.

"Just trust me. You'll love it. You could get Ryan to watch the restaurant. If you get home sick, I promise I will take you home. This could be good for us," he said with such certainty.

"I guess I should call Jenny and Todd to let them know I won't be around for a few days. I'll tell Ryan to take care of the restaurant too," I said while taking his face in my hands. I looked into his blue eyes and said, "I trust you Vince."

He smiled at me and gave me a soft kiss. "You won't regret it."

I called Jenny and Todd that night. They knew I had been down about Vince for a while. They both urged me to just talk to him and sort things out. Todd said to me one day, "You're stubborn, Lauren. I guess you will just figure things out on your own time." And that's what I did.

And Jenny, well she just told me to sleep with him again. For "fun." Crazy girl. I learned my lesson from that. They both listened as I told them what happened between me and Vince in the last day or two. They were happy for me. Todd just told me to be careful, as usual. Jenny just said to have a blast. That's what I I tented to do, actually.

Ryan, however freaked out when I told him I would be away for ten days. "How the hell am I supposed to run this place by myself?!" He exclaimed at me.

"You just will, Ryan. That is, if you want to work for me. I've trained you well. I believe in you," I assured him.

That night, I went home to pack. I was excited, yet nervous. I've never been to New York. It sounds amazing. I've always wanted to go. But I was nervous about meeting his family, in particular his father. "Oh well," I thought. I needed to suck it up and do it anyway. Vince was going to be here at seven in the morning, and I was determined to have a good trip.

I know this was a short chapter and maybe somewhat boring, but I'll upload the next one soon. It's gonna be great. ;)
