~Leo's POV~

"Leo, what's with the salad?" Shoot, I was hoping Piper and Jason wouldn't notice the lack of churros.

"Oh, that, yea I'm just, you know, trying to get healthy."

"HA, Leo you have the metabolism of a hyena, a lazy uncoordinated hyena but still" Jason laughs.

"Hey, don't question my health habits!"

"Fine, fine, but you're just gonna spit it out once you start." Jason says putting a giant soft taco on his plate.

"Whatever, hey I'll be right back," I slid a bit of the food into the fire as an offering and walk off, I briefly hear Piper ask Jason where he thinks I'm going, I don't hear his response but they probably think I'm going back to bunker 9. How wrong they would be. I pass the same place I ran into the mystery girl and choose the nearest cabin I see, my guess is she was visiting another cabin for dinner (because why would anyone go to their empty cabin to eat alone, seriously) so hopefully she's still here. I take a deep breath and knock.

"Clara, if that's you I told you, you need to socialize you're not staying in here again" It's the mystery girls voice and suddenly my heart picks up speed. Wait why am I nervous, I'm just getting her food. Right? I knock again.

The door swings open and the mystery girl stares at me.

"You again, look I just got the ranch dressing out of my shirt, so if you don't mind-"

"Wait! I got you another plate," I said shoving my foot in the door, "I'm Leo, by the way Leo Valdez son of Hephaestus."

"Yea, I know who you are," Was there something else in her voice? I'm used to girls who pity me but it sounded like..... Respect. "Everyone knows who you are"

"Okay, well can I know who you are?" For a brief second her eyes grow darker, but it's gone before I can tell for sure.

"Rubee Banks, and please don't say 'like my hair', I already know it's stupid."

"No, I think it's great," Oh my gods, she SMILED!

"Thanks" Her smile is beautiful.

"So, did you just choose a theme of red?" I gesture to her clothes that are obviously pajamas, oversized red lounge pants and an intriguingly tight tank top.

"I support my lineage I guess, it's my favorite color."

"So are you a daughter of Aphrodite?" Her face fell.

"No. Why would you assume that?" Okay, wrong move Ares maybe?

"Uh, Ares?" She goes ridged.

"So ironic that you would guess Love and War, yet not their common result" I honestly thought she might start to cry, I didn't mean to hurt her. She closes the door before I can try and apologize.

I call through the door. "I'm sorry, I-I-I just don't know your parent."

"It's not your fault, no one cares about Revenge's children, please, just go away."

"Then let me."

~Rubee's POV~

I sink down on the door frame and a tear rolls down my face, thankfully no one else is hear. I hate it when I'm weak. For some reason though I really thought I could have a friend, someone who would care enough to stick with me with I snap. Like I did a few seconds ago, oh gosh Rubee, why can't you just let people in?

"Then let me." The voice was barely a whisper, but I heard it. Did I imagine it, or did he just ask me to let him in, to let him care. I stand up and my hand grazes the doorknob. Do it Rubee, open the door.

"Please, just go," Mother wins again. I will never be normal enough to have a boyfriend like Leo Valdez. Whoa, did I just say Boyfriend? No, it doesn't matter, no one at this camp would fight for me, except for maybe Nico.

"No," What?

"What?"

"I'm not leaving until you talk to me, and eat this salad." What do I do now?

~Leo's POV~

The door creeks open and all I see is a shiny wet cheek.

"Fine, come on then," she grabs my hand leading me in and a tingling feeling goes through my arm settling in my stomach. She wipes her cheeks with her arms as she pulls me through a large living room with a large mural of a scale, the scales of Nemesis. Before I can comment on it I'm dragged into a sky blue room covered in red accents, Rubee's room. There's a golden whip on her desk and an apple tree in the corner of the room, the whip seems oddly familiar when I realize it's because I've seen the whip before, on her mother's waist at our last meeting. Suddenly the whip is taken off the desk and she hands me a sword.

"I'm okay, I prefer my belt" I pat my tool belt on my hip, she shrugs and puts it down again. "May I ask where were going though that requires weapons?"

"The woods" She leaves and goes into a bathroom looking room and emerges a moment later in armor, but none that I've seen before. It was a full body black leather jumper with no sleeves. Similar styled cuffs were wrapped around her arms lacing up to her collar. I look closer and see they are actually tiny braided gold snakes wrapped around apple branches, and matching Greek sandals that are oddly flexible. I've only seen craftsmanship like this in one other place, a closet in the armoire in bunker 9.

"Who made that for you?"

Sorrow filled her eyes, and I think I already know the answer.

"Beckendorf," She looks down as if pained "He actually cared about me, the only one besides Ethan to even talk to me. I came asking for simple armor, I should have known he would take the small task as a huge project, the leather is enchanted to be practically indestructible, and the cuffs are really the wonder of it. The snakes stand for my mother's lesser known side, vengeance, wrapped around her apple branches. Ha, he even plated the celestial bronze in gold to match her whip. They allow me to have a direct link to Nemesis in case I need to make an unscheduled sacrifice for the greater good.

Come on you should suit up,"

"Wait what are we doing that requires armor, and what do you mean sacrifices for the greater good?" She gives me a mischievous smile, and I know I'm in for a handful. Oddly enough, Im excited for it.

An A/N:

Yay Chapter two! Sorry if some of these chapters end up being shorter. So now if you hadn't figured out Rubee's godly parent by the tile and all my dropped hints you do now! I've been trying to leave Rubee as mysterious and unpredictable as I can. Unfortunately you won't see too much more of Rubee's emotions in chunks larger than I've been giving now for a while. She's not one to immediately give out her trust so letting Leo in is a big deal! What do you think they're going to fight in the wood? But a small theme for you guys in the next chapter or so: Revenge is unpredictable.
