Chapter 1- Demi's POV
Wow. If you told me a year ago that I would be playing Naya Rivera's love interest on Glee I probably would have laughed in your face. Never in a million years would I do that. Or so I thought. When the news got out, everybody was shocked. 'Demi has done and been almost everything, now she's a lesbian?' Most are excited about this role I'm taking on, but inevitably people are upset. In every decision one can make there will be somebody, somewhere, that is going to rain on their parade. That'sthe cost of having free will, of being alive. But here's the catch: I don't like girls. Not the way I was born to like men. I am 98% completely, totally straight. (The 2% is for Beyoncé. Who wouldn't go lesbian for Beyoncé?) In the climax of my introductory monologue, I was interrrupted. "Uhm excuse me... miss? We are here."
I blushed flamingo pink when I heard the cabdrivers voice. His raspy, yet surprisingly comforting tone that broke me from my thoughts was the first voice of many I was sure to be introduced to today. "Oh I'm so sorry, here's your money." I awkwardly fumbled for my cash as he chuckled. My blush stayed prominent on my cheeks as I stepped out of the taxi. I walked across worn in cement, my feet breaking countless mother's backs and adding to the collection of dirt on this pavement. When I reached the gates, I introduced myself to the security guard and he smiled knowingly. Hi, I'm Demi Lovato? I'm here for my part?" I could hear vocal warm-ups and giggles from all the way out here. I arrived early, excited to be a part of this team.
"Yes, go down there and the door to your dressing room will be on your left." He moved to the side and pointed down the long hallway, and simutaneously allowed me onto the set. I gazed to the left and saw a big door with my name on it. I tip-toed into the room, feeling as if I made any noise I would be awoken from this dream.
"Oh my God this is amazing." I whispered, awestruck, gazing around my dressing room. My fingers brushed along vanities, table-tops, my own couch. I saw a wardrobe with a red waitress costume, no doubt in my size. Quick knocks at the door made me jump, and I shouted a "come in." I glanced toward the door, curious as to who would know I'm here already. A short brunette powerhouse was revealed when the door creaked open, and caused me to gasp.
"Naya are you still in here? You couldn't have opened the door? I told you it was perfect I just need to put the- oh Demi!" Lea Michele walked into my dressing room carrying a bowl of caramel filled Hershey kisses. "You're, uh, here early." She looked real shocked and stared into the chocolate bowl as if she was counting them. Stutters came out of her mouth, trying to find excuses for whatever was happening here. My cheeks tinted pink as I opened my mouth to reply. Right as I was about to speak, my onscreen love interest appeared behind Lea.
"What is taking you so long? She's going to be here in 15 minutes-" an antsy, familiar, Latina strode into the room grabbing the sweets from the still-slightly-upset girl who's plan had been interrupted.
"Hi Naya!" I giggled, deciding to make myself noticed. She stopped in her tracks dropping the chocolate in the process. A simple 'oh' escaped her lips as she stared at me in complete shock; Lea smirking behind her. I laughed at her frozen state, and a couple seconds into my laughter she cracked a smile then laughed herself.
"Demi! I can't believe you're actually here!" She fast-walked to me and gave me a giant hug. Believe it or not, but we have only spoken once or twice, and it wasn't even in person. Naya released me and started to explain why they were in my dressing room. Lea walked closer with both eyes on us. "Anyway well I kind of am a really big fan and I am really excited you're coming on the show and I just wanted your first moment here to be perfect. Sorry I'm kind of that well uh I'm not sure what I'm trying to say." My heart did a leap when Naya blushed.
"Awhh!! I grinned, slightly rocking back and forth on my feet. "That's so sweet! I'm so excited to be here; it's such an honor to be working with such talented people....I feel so out of place." I said honestly. They both gasped.
"Demi, what are you talking about? You're incredible!" Lea piped in as Naya nodded and began to speak.
"Yeah, you're so gifted in acting AND singing. Your voice is so powerful, it's perfect. You're perfect." I teared up as my heart did that leap thing again and engulfed them both in the biggest hug. They have no idea how insecure I am about everything, really, and I can never begin to explain how much those words make me feel, how much they mean to me. People I barely know who are so talented themselves are complimenting me on two of the some of the biggest things I worry about every time I work. Of course, I still have doubts, which are never going to go away, but I push them to the back of my mind as we released and smiled at each other. Turning to the mess on the floor we starts to pick it up, also eating a few while we do it. When we finished we stood up and I placed the chocolates on the table."So," I looked at my new coworkers, "who's ready to get to work?"
