A second or two passed, and he both jumped as Simon’s door opened.

“Right Harry, come in. J…” Simon paused as he tried to recall my name.

“Jemma” Harry reminded him.

“Yes, Jemma, sorry, I’ll get there in the end…” but before he finished I was up and handing him the copying.

“If you need anything else doing, please just say”

“Thank you” he said as he took the paperwork “Right Harry, in you come” Simon said as I walked back to my desk. Harry gave me a little nod, and a small smile as he passed me, and he was gone.

It had to be said, Harry Styles has brightened my day. His inquisitive nature was a little strange, however it was welcomed and my mind soon travelled back over our pointless conversation and I wondered if our paths would cross again. Only time would tell. At two o’clock Katy returned and I went back down to the press office to continue with my day’s work.

-

A week had passed when Sharon came over and asked me to attend a meeting on behalf of the team.

“It’s just regarding some Radio One thing that some of the artists are doing, and no one else is around to attend. If you just make notes and I’ll catch up with you tomorrow about it”.

“Yeah sure” I said as I made a note of the time and meeting room.

I had 10 minutes so I nipped to the loo before heading to the meeting. On the way back to my desk to grab my notebook a familiar face turned the corner at the end of the press corridor. He strolled along, again staring and tapping away at his phone. He wore black worn jeans, grey high tops and his signature Jack Wills hoodie, today’s colour of choice was a raspberry tone. The opportunity to grab his attention didn’t arise, so I simply went to my desk and headed to the meeting room.

As usual I was the first to arrive so took a seat and checked out my to-do list, it was a Monday so it was certainly looking a little long. The meeting room gradually began to fill up with various people from the label. Claire from the management department had just taken a seat when the door opened and Harry walked in, followed by Liam, Louis, Zayn and Niall.

“Hi” they all chorused as they took their seats and glanced around the room greeting those that they knew.

I wasn’t entirely sure what to do, head down or wait for Harry’s eyes to reach my side of the room. Jesus, what was wrong with me, it was just a normal meeting, I’ve had dozens of them since I began my job, yet this time I wasn’t sure what to do with myself.

“Get a grip” I thought to myself as I sat back in my chair and twiddled my pen nervously.

He shuffled around in his chair as he quickly glanced around the room with a blank, but friendly look on his face. As his eyes flickered in my direction he stopped fidgeting and smiled, his eyes lighting up in the process. He was probably just glad to see someone in the room that he had met before, but then again, One Direction had been with Sony since their X Factor days, so surely he had met more people in the room than just me, or maybe he just had a poor memory for faces. Who knows? He politely nodded in my direction, as I smiled in return, before Louis nudged him in the ribs to talk to him.

“Right, let’s get started” there manager, Jack said as he opened his notebook and leant on the table.

The meeting was pretty standard. Radio One had approached Sony and asked for various artists to take part in the Teen Roadshow, that would be happening the weekend after next, and it was felt by those high up that One Direction should be our headline act, so to speak. It would involve a week’s tour around five major cities, which would luckily coincide with the release of their new single, Better Than Before.
