I arrived home late on the Sunday evening. It was the end of January so it wasn't much warmer inside than it was on cold streets of London, and to make it worse there was no Squiggle snaking her way around my legs as she was still staying at a friend, I would have to collect her tomorrow.
Eventually my flat heated up and I was finally able to jump in the shower without freezing to death. Twenty minutes later I left the warm, dewy environment of my bathroom with a towel wrapped around me to find my phone flashing on my bedside table. Harry calling the display read. A smile immediately spread across my face and an inner excitement became exposed as I picked up the phone and answered it.
"Hey handsome" I said as I sat down on my bed.
"Hey you" he said in his husky, yet slightly dreamy tone "You got back ok then?".
"Yeah, but I've literally just got out the shower and it's bloody freezing in my room, so can I call you back once I've got some clothes on?" I said as I hitched the towel up slightly, in hope it would keep my warm, but it didn't. I then became acutely aware that I'd just informed him of my lack of clothing, and I blushed at the silence at the end of the phone, waiting for his response.
"Oh yeah, sure" he said sounding flustered, "Yeah call me back" and he hung up.
I dressed and dried my hair in record time before diving into bed and calling him back.
"Dressed now?" he said with a slight giggle as he answered the phone.
"Yep and tucked up in bed for extra warmth" I said casually.
"Wish I was there with you babe" he said without hesitation "To keep you warm I mean" he said, backtracking slightly on his previously loaded statement.
"Well I will just have to keep myself warm, I guess" I said as I hugged the duvet around me, before looking at my response from his perspective, and realising where his thoughts would lead him. "So you got back ok?" I asked, moving the conversation away from beds and things that were associated with beds.
"Yeah, a couple of hours ago" he paused "Well I'd better let you go I guess, I just wanted to check you were home safely" his tone with lower than usual but I couldn't work out if this was real, in my imagination or because we were talking over the phone for the first time.
"Yeah, I've gotta be up at six" I said with a small yawn.
"Well sleep dreams beautiful, and have a good day at work".
"Will do, you too".
"Night" we both said at the same time before simultaneously ending the call. I glanced at my phone, it's screen still lit up and wondered where he was and what he was doing, and having never seen his house I let my mind drift and imagine him in the fictional rooms that I created in my head. I eventually shook myself from my daydream and leaned over and turned my light out.
