Sandy flew into the air on his cloud of dream sand and did his job of giving dreams to the children. Golden ropes of sand flittered through windows and giant sand animals roamed the streets. Long-necked dinosaurs walked with heavy feet, and dolphins and stingrays swam through the air. Golden snow fell and fish flew like they would swim in water.
Jack threw a snowball at Jamie's back and smiled, effectively starting a snowball fight. I joined in, scooping up some snow and packing it into a tight ball. With a little bit of luck sprinkled onto it, I threw it at Jack's unsuspecting back. He looked back at me surprised and I smiled innocently and waved.
"Your center?" North came up to him and asked.
"Uh, it took a while, but I figured it out," Jack smiled.
North tossed him the smallest Russian stacking doll, painted to look just like him. Jack caught it and stared at it with a soft laugh, North laughed too before he was pegged with a snowball from an elf that stood between two of Jamie's friends.
"You're all on Naughty List," North playfully said, bending down to make a snowball and taking aim, "Bunny, think fast."
The snowball hit Bunny in the face when he turned upon hearing his name. Bunny laughed and the snowball fight commenced, the yetis and baby tooth fairies joining in as well. I threw a luck-infused snowball at Affiah and she tried to retaliate, but someone else threw one at her too. I laughed and bent down to collect another bundle of snow.
The next thing I know, my butt is cold. I stood up quickly and looked behind me at Jack who had a smirk on his face. I let a smirk develop on my own face and squatted down to get some snow, not taking my eyes off him for even a second. I conjured up some luck and my snowball glowed golden as I tossed it up in the air a few times before pegging it at him. He dodged to the left, but it hit him anyway.
I brushed my hands together and grinned at my job well done. My eyes closed when I laughed and the next thing I know, I'm on my back in the snow and Jack is pinning my down by my shoulders. I wrapped my arms around his back and hugged him to me, his arms giving out in surprise. His body weight crashed into me, but I was still able to roll the two of us over so his back was in the snow. We laid there and laughed after Jack got over his surprise.
"No..." Pitch got up from his position on the ground and looked around, "You dare have fun in my presence? I am the boogeyman, and you will fear me!"
The guardians looked at Pitch as he walked toward Jamie, trying to grab him, but only being walked through by the young boy.
"No! Uh, no..." Pitch saw the guardians looking at him and ran across the street and onto an ice-covered pond.
"Leaving the party so soon?" he ran into North and fell back, scrambling to get away.
"You didn't even say goodbye," Tooth tossed him a coin.
"A quarter?" he questioned when he caught it.
Tooth punched him and one of his teeth went flying out of his mouth.
"And that's for my fairies," she shook her hand off and her fairies twittered their agreement.
"You can't get rid of me," Pitch stood up, "Not forever, there will always be fear."
"So what?" North questioned, "As long as one child believes, we will be here to fight fear."
"Really, then what are they doing here?" Pitch motioned to some of his nightmare horses standing off to the side.
"Haha, they can't be my nightmares, I not afraid," North shrugged.
Pitch's smile disappeared, he no longer thought he had the upper hand.
"Looks like it's your fear they smell," Jack stepped forward.
His eyes widened and he turned around and ran, screaming. The nightmares reared and chased after him, encircling him in nightmare sand and dragging him through the air to his lair under an old bed. He clawed at the ground to try and prevent it, but just ended up pulling the bed down the hole with him.
"Noooo!" his cry echoed out until the hole closed in on itself and there was just dirt left in the place the bed used to be.
The clouds were blown away from the full moon by Affiah, and it shone brightly down on everything.
