"Are you ready now," North asked Jack and I, "To make it official?"
A yeti handed him the book he read from when Jack was first brought to the Pole.
"It is time you take oath," North flipped through the pages, "Will you, Jack Frost and Clover Patricks, vow to watch over the children of the world, to guard them with your life, their hopes, their wishes, and their dreams, for they are all that we have, all that we are, and all that we will ever be?"
The guardians stood in front of us and Jamie and his friends stood behind us.
"Who's Clover Patricks?" I heard one of them whisper.
I lowered my head slightly and Jack reached over and took my left hand in his right one. He smiled sadly at me. I returned the smile sadly and faced North.
"She's St. Patrick," Jamie whispered back to his friends, "You know, from St. Patrick's Day?"
"Ohh," another one whispered.
It made me happy that Jamie stood up for me, but I didn't expect the kids to believe him. Jack looked back at them and smiled at Jamie, who gladly returned it. I looked back one more time as well, and a smile lit up my face when one of the girls waved at me slightly. The two of us then turned back to North.
"I will," we spoke simultaneously with large smiles.
"Then, congratulations Jack Frost and Clover Patricks, for you are now," North closed the book and raised his hands above his head cheerfully, "And forever more guardians."
Everyone cheered and you could hear the elves jumping, their bell hats jingling. North picked up Jack by his shoulders and kissed each of his cheeks before putting him down and doing the same to me. A few tooth fairies made a flying heart off to the side and squealed joyfully.
"Keep it together girls," Tooth warned them with a warm smile.
The cheering continued for a few more minutes before it was stopped by North's sleigh landing on the frozen pond. The kids looked on in amazement and began exclaiming to each other how cool it was. I smiled at Jack and he wrapped his free arm around my waist. I leaned into him and watched the scene.
"Everyone loves the sleigh," Bunny commented to North, who raised his eyebrows like he was saying 'I told you so.'
"Time to go," North looked at both Jack and I.
Sandy created fireworks out of his dream sand that exploded into golden snow and dissipated before they touched the ground. Bunny went to say goodbye to Sophie.
"Happy Easter you little ankle biter," he handed her an egg and she rubbed his nose, "I'm gonna miss ya."
"Bye bye Bunny," she spoke in her young voice.
I looked to Jack and watched as he said goodbye to Jamie, who didn't want him to go.
"You're leaving?" he walked toward Jack, "But what if Pitch comes back? What if we stop believing again? If I can't see you..."
"Hey, slow down, slow down" Jack knelt down to his level and put a comforting hand on his shoulder, "You tell me you stop believing in the moon when the sun comes up?"
"No," Jamie answered.
"Okay, well, do ya stop believing in the sun when the clouds block it out?" he pointed up at the sky.
"No," Jamie saw where he was going with it.
"We'll always be there Jamie, and now, we'll always be here," Jack pointed to Jamie's heart, "Which kinda makes you a guardian too."
Jack got up and started to walk back to where I stood by the sleigh.
"Jack!" Jamie ran to him and hugged him as he turned around.
He looked surprised at first, like he didn't know what to do, but he relaxed and crouched down to return the hug with a smile on his face. The two broke apart after a while and I walked over to Jamie to say my own goodbye to the first kid who ever saw me. I bent down to his level and conjured a four-leaf clover in my palm.
"Jack, could you..." I nodded to the clover and he froze it for me, "Thanks."
I then sprinkled a bit of luck onto the charm and held my hand out to Jamie.
"For the first boy to ever believe in me," I smiled at him as he cautiously picked it up out of my hand.
"Thank you," he held it up to his chest before hugging me.
I blinked a few times before squeezing him back, not expecting the sudden warmth. He let go and watched as I walked up to Jack and took his hand. The two of us hopped into North's sleigh where the rest of the guardians and Affiah were. We turned back to wave goodbye to the kids as they ran after the sleigh for a short while. Affiah and Bunny were cuddled up together, their future together looking bright.
I turned to Jack once we could no longer see them and placed my hands on his cool cheeks. He looked at me with a smile, and I pulled his face closer to mine. Our lips touched, briefly at first, but he pulled me closer once he got over the shock. I closed my eyes and reveled in the feel of his cool mouth against mine.
We broke for air and Jack pressed his forehead against mine. He stared into my eyes, smiles lighting up both of our faces, and asked me the question I'd been waiting to hear since he held onto me when we were falling after Sandy died. It was then that I realized I liked him, after feeling how safe I felt in his arms.
"So, does this mean you'll go out with me?" he whispered.
"Depends," I whispered back with a cheeky grin on my face, "Do you think you can handle me? I am a bit of a handful you know."
"That's okay," Jack grinned back, "So am I."
With that said, he brought our lips together again and we kissed, as if we were sealing the deal. His cold lips didn't affect me in the slightest, not like it would normal people anyway, he cooled my normally warm body temperature down until it was just the way I liked it. After a while of sweet bliss, I pulled back and looked him in the eyes, mischief twinkling in my own golden orbs.
"You're going to need all the help you can get with me," I spoke playfully, "So, good luck Mr. Snowman."
