Beginnings of Love to Realizing You're His Everything (His POV)
Liam
Before
She had this ridiculous hair, and these eyes. (Y/N) that is. Like the kind of hair that you just need to run your fingers through. And eyes so deep you'd never find an end. It was the first thing I'd noticed about her when we were in middle school. And the first time I compared myself to a Disney Prince when describing her to my parents.
I'd just been a new transfer student. Awkward should have been my middle name with how I handled every situation with her.
I'd liked this girl, a lot, but she was that girl. You know what one I'm talking about. The perfect one that had perfect grades, perfect manners, and that perfect hair. She was the girl that everyone was friends with but you wouldn't call her popular in the sense of teen dramas.
But I wasn't the type of guy for her to notice. I wouldn't call myself a victim of bullying. What I would call myself is a guy who is easy to tease. No one had ever been out right mean or cruel to me. But I wasn't exactly taken seriously by girls either. (Y/N) always gave me the sweetest smiles, always asked how I was doing. She gave me the attention that I was easily lacking from girls. She noticed me, but not in the way I needed her to. How could I not fall for her?
My feelings for her may have started as hero worship, but as we moved from middle school into high school, I found myself moving from that, to infatuation, to my first love. And being the sad sap I am, it didn't go away. So I came up with a plan. I was going to become a man she would be proud to be seen holding hands with.
Now
"So, are you ever gonna admit I was right?" Zayn asked from behind me as I push the weights from my chest up towards the ceiling.
"Right about what?" I grunted as I slowly let the weights come back down. He leaned over to look down at me.
"About changing up your personality for (Y/N). That chick would have jumped you if you'd have stuttered out a pickup line."
I smiled thinking about her. "You're right. And I can't keep up an act around her. She sees right through me to the nerdy guy I am. But I'm glad I did something. If I hadn't, I don't think I would have ever had the courage to approach her."
"Does this mean you'll stop working out all the time? Because man, I can not keep up, and I can't have you becoming more buff than me. Then people will think you're the bad boy and pick fights with you. And you and I both know that you can't take a punch." Zayn turned from me to flex at the wall of mirrors behind us.
I coughed to hide a laugh. "You're really dramatic. Just like your girlfriend."
He swung back to me, placed his fingers to his lips, and shushed me. "Don't ever tell her that! She'll hold it over my head forever. She thinks I'm bad and I'd like to keep it that way.
"Ha! Okay Zayn, you think that. But I'm pretty sure she sees right through you."
"We're a piece of work don't you think? You with (Y/N), and me with my cupcake."
"They've got us wrapped around their fingers. And they know it." I chuckled while setting the weights back up before sitting up to face him.
"I wouldn't have it any other way though." He flashed me his goofy grin, the one he only saves for when he's in the best of moods, which seems to happen more and more since she came into his life. I'm not mush different though. I know with (Y/)N) in my life I'm in a constant state of good cheer.
