"D-Demi?" I stuttered.

"This is she, may I ask who's calling?" I rolled my eyes at my sister's professional tone of voice.

"Uh, it's Devonne.." The other end of the phone was silent.

I took another breath and kept on, "You're sister.."

"..Your twin sister," I continued. Still no answer.

I sighed, "Maybe I should call back-"

I was cut off, "NO! ...I-I u-uh.....Devonne?"

"Yeah?"

"It's really..you?" I nodded forgetting that she couldn't see me.

"Mhm. Hey.." I said awkwardly.

"Hey."

"So, how are you?"

"I'm good. Definently good. How are you?"

"I'm pretty good, I guess."

"How's-"

"Lola. She's good, too."

I could practically hear Demi smiling through the phone.

"You had a girl," she whispered.

"...Yeah," I mumbled.

"Listen, Dev.. I really have a lot to say to you, to talk to you about.. Actually too much to tell you over the phone. Have you decided yet?"

I paused. Was I really willing to give up on the promise I had made to myself over the past six years?

Was I ready to get involved with the people who raised me, and then kicked me out when I needed them the most?

Was I ready to bring my own daughter into that new atmosphere?

Maybe I wasn't. It had been six years for Christ sakes. Why did they want to see me now and not sooner?

I took a deep and shaky breath, and decided to risk it all.

"Yeah, I'll come."
